Console Exclusive has been a term used pretty much this entire generation considering how many Xbox exclusive titles got a PC release as well (same for PS4 but a bit rarer. SFV is all I can think of for now)

So Nintendo is confirming Microsoft is to thank for the port confirming Nintendo even knows Microsoft is working on the project. Microsoft is confirming they are helping Studio MDHR. Studio MDHR is confirming they are working with Microsoft. The end goal is Xbox Live integration.

Sony’s not going to fund a port based solely on that. Sony likely won’t get the product because of that too then even if they do the Sony product would be inferior to the other products upon launch because every other product would sport more versus the PS4 product.

Or Sony could ok the integration and also gain integration for Minecraft as well. Seems smarter, more beneficial, less costly, less of a gamble...

I just want to point out that I actually think this is a good deal. Studio MDHR should see a benefit as their game will now be coming to a new platform exposing that game to a new audience. Plus they have not one but two console manufacturers working with them on a common goal.

Further Microsoft no matter how you look at it has deeper pockets than Studio MDHR so them assisting in porting and taking on some of the costs has to be helpful. Nintendo also benefits because they are helping as well but they also don’t have to shell out to get the game or really put much funding into it on their end. It should also mean a pretty solid product for Switch.

I’m actually liking this trend. This way developers and console manufacturers both benefit. Plus in the end the developer should see a nice return with less financial liability they may not have.

But I think the only way Sony will see this product is if they play ball too.

Considering games like DC Universe on PS3 published by Sony Online Entertainment (Now Daybreak now that Sony and the developer have parted ways) was exclusive to PlayStation and PC while the game was owned by Sony.. Games like Final Fantasy 14 have been on both PS4 and PC and games like Street Fighter 5 have released on both PS4 and PC BUT ALL THESE GAMES WERE CONSIDERED CONSOLE EXCLUSIVES which is a term LITERALLY USED BY EVERYONE!! Heck Xbox themselves proudly use the words "Console Exclusive" AT THEIR OWN GAME PRESENTATION EVENTS AND PRESS RELEASES!! And since Xbox's play anywhere initiative allowing their games to be released on PC the rhetoric WAS ALWAYS "Console Exclusives" point blank period! So now dont be stupid enough to come to my comment section and try to feign ignorance or stupidity and act like this isn't a thing! Because it well and truly is a thing! A game that was championed and hailed as a CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE at their OWN E3 conference is now being released on a rival CONSOLE! regardless of Microsoft's involvement! SOE was never part of the PlayStation division, and was actually there to create games for PC. They were around before PS became a thing. It's not really the same situation at all.

Everyone knows what the term console exclusive means. Most of the discourse is centered around if console exclusive is enough to consider it exclusive, or if exclusive can only be used if it's without some sort of modifier.

There is nothing to “rethink” MS went to Sony before making the box to strike a deal and Sony turned it down much like how Nintendo turned Sony down which created the PS1. MS took their resources and drop Xbox in response to it THUS Xbox being born in direct competition to a deal denied.

It’s from your source. It says nothing about when or that Xbox was created directly after. Microsoft sought to add software to dedicated hardware from other companies. In other words Microsoft looked to be a second party developer by today’s standards.

It doesn't matter if they're working on 3 new consoles they can't compete with Sony or Nintendo they don't make PC hardware they make PC OS there's a difference. Microsoft sucks and I'll tell you why people hyped the Xbox One X I bought one and hooked up last week and it was completely dead it wouldn't power on that makes them look bad and I took to social media and tagged the asshole Phil Spencer and Xbox . Software isn't more important than hardware are you kidding me so the Wii U must have been a success since software is more important than hardware lmao. Forza Horizon 3 sold 2.5 million Gran Turismo Sport sold 3.3 million so Forza isnt the highest selling racer you can use google and check into it. Microsoft hasn't had any good games meanwhile Nintendo and Sony are putting out hit after hit with great software sales and reviews when is the last time Xbox had a game that got 10s?? Acquiring studios doesn't mean anything they acquired RARE and they haven't had a huge hit on Xbox like they did on Nintendo consoles that's a fact.
