It’s Time to Bring Back Jade Empire

Jacob St-Amour from Link-Cable Writes: "BioWare has always been known to have been the go-to developers for action RPGs. From their work on the spectacular Mass Effect trilogy, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as well as the many titles in the Dragon Age franchise, all have been met with renown success stories of the last decade. While their latest projects may not have lived up to the potential of their previous works, BioWare is still regarded as one of the best developers in the business and will most likely find a way to bounce back from the shortcomings of both Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Many of us are eagerly waiting for their next entry to the Dragon Age project, however, there is a forgotten cult-classic entry that BioWare should consider bringing back after a fifteen years absence and that is with none other with the Jade Empire series."

Couldn't agree more. Went to play Jade Empire on my 360 but the console was dead -_-. Would love a sequel or remaster so I can play on my PS4. Loved that game.

Vhampir2635d ago

It was free on Origin while back, but i think they stopped doing that. It's still available to buy though.

capjacksparrow2635d ago

Yeah, I figured. I'm not gonna buy the console for a two gen old game. Nothing on it really entices me. The next one maybe, due to all the studio acquisitions. We shall see.

DaDrunkenJester2635d ago

If you own a X1 then it's available through BC.

To many BR games, next they'd be saying Tetris BR, or Monopoly BR....

PhantomS422635d ago

I have bad news for you on that Tetris BR...

b163o12635d ago (Edited 2635d ago )

@PhantomS42

OMG I just seen Tetris 99😖...

KyRo2635d ago

Br63o1. He was being sarcastic I think because no one in their right mind would want that but there are hardly any BR games in comparison to other genres lol. There's 4 main big ones, a few failed ones on PC and that's pretty much your lot. The genre is only growing.

"BioWare is still regarded as one of the best developers in the business and will most likely find a way to bounce back from the shortcomings of both Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem."

And here is the problem. People defended Bioware when Andromeda came out saying it was their "B team" and not their main most talented studio. If Anthem is a fair reflection of their talented studio, then the Bioware we know and love is dead. I'd love to see a new Jade Empire too but not from this Bioware and certainly not with EA breathing down their necks, it'll just get EA'd up.

PhantomS422635d ago

Bioware hasn't been the best developer in the business long before Anthem and Andromeda. Their fall started with the EA purchase and DA2, it got worse and worse from there.

UnHoly_One2635d ago

Andromeda was good and Anthem is amazing, so I'd say Bioware is still just fine. :)

PapaBop2635d ago

Each to their own but I think metacritic disagrees with you.

UnHoly_One2635d ago

Metacritic is just a sum of a few people’s opinions.

I prefer to form my own opinions rather than let people tell me how to think.

rainslacker2635d ago

Gotta wait for their C team's game. They can do it. I think people forget that ME3 had it's flaws in the story department, and was a bit dumbed down from the prior two games, although technically solid enough. DA hasn't been as good as it used to be.

I know people love the old Bioware, but the people that really made it special are just not there anymore, and more so, EA's publishing policies tend to not be a good fit for companies that need time and freedom to get things done.

Said no one ever - time to grow up lads, some things aren't meant to resurrected.

DaDrunkenJester2635d ago

Jade Empire us fantastic. You're tripping

staticall2635d ago

Not under EA and not with this Bioware. It'll be grinding, with microtransactions, forced multiplayer and subpar story.

Jade Empire was like a fun, exotic fairytale, they'll turn it into some clean, inclusive, distilled money-making machine with transformation styles locked behind DLC or griding, with "social hub", super-light RPG elements, unnecessary crafting and other trendy things.

BioWare, Where Is Jade Empire 2?

GB: "It does seem that with BioWare being in the spot that they are, where their last two major releases haven’t exactly lived up to expectations, perhaps a big shift in direction is just what the doctor ordered to inject themselves with a new surge of energy and start to turn the page just in time for the new decade. It’s tough to say at this point, but with the Jade Empire trademark being suspended as of April of last year, I wouldn’t suggest anybody start holding their breath for anything major for this game just yet."

It's dead, just like BioWare. Dead.

FallenAngel19842281d ago

You should be asking where their talent went first

Spoilers most of them left the company already

thatguyhayat2281d ago

They've addressed this before, Microsoft owns the IP and its upto them but its better to leave it then make a sequel. The OGs have a new studio and are working on a Sci-Fi game for next gen

AK912281d ago

What new studio are you referring to? I'm out of the loop about this.

Knightofelemia2281d ago (Edited 2281d ago )

They're to busy trying to keep Anthem alive and I doubt EA will fire up an old ip. And on top of that if they did make the game it will probably be as bad as ME Andromeda since most of the talent is gone now leave it to EA to wreck a good company.

starchild2281d ago

ME Andromeda was disappointing, but it was still a pretty good game, IMO. I would rather get another Jade Empire, even if it's only that good, rather than not get another one at all.

TheColbertinator2281d ago

The first question is Where is Bioware?
