Anthem is very nearly a good game. Is it possible to realize its potential or is it doomed?

It has a great framework, I am excited for the future of the game.

-Foxtrot2639d ago

Yeah great if you like a frame made out of cardboard and held together by chewing gum

maybelovehate2639d ago

Have you played it or just basing this off of assumptions? The gameplay loop is in my opinion very satisfying. The bugs are unfortunate but they are doing a nice job of addressing them and fixing them.

Shikoku2637d ago

I've played it and he is pretty spot on its like a really good knock off, it looks good generally for a while is sufficient in what it does but the more you use it the more knock off it seems.

Unspoken2637d ago

Adios Felicia, I mean EA.

mezati992637d ago (Edited 2637d ago )

unironically this is the only place where you can find people defending this piece of fucking trash

seriously, how much is EA paying you to chill?

toxic-inferno2637d ago

EA are paying me nothing and I am thoroughly enjoying the game.

I got the game free with my computer and it was not on my radar since i'm not a big Bioware fan so i knew almost nothing going in but while it has it's issues, i'm still having fun. There is a solid foundation but i completely understand frustrations like loading times if you're playing on a regular HDD, framerate drops if your on consoles ect or endgame content not being balanced properly. That said just because someone shares a less popular opinion doesn't mean they're getting paid lol, no reason to get pissed off.

While it should have had less of these issues at launch, it still has potential to get a lot better just like other loot games like Diablo 3, The Division, Destiny 1 ect, all i will say is don't pick it up now and just wait to see if anything changes in the future where it will probably be cheaper as well.

Ah, the terrible straw man argument of someone without one.

hOw MuCh Is ThE cOmPaNy PaYiNg YoU to WrItE tHiS!?

Larrysweet2637d ago

gameplay loop is one of the things that is horrible..fly here guard this kill this zero mission design

Npugz72637d ago

I think it’s doomed! There’s just too much work to do to get this game to be complete or competitive to other games of this style. Way too many bugs and wasn’t ready for launch but we all k ow EA and how they don’t care if a games done or not!

Shikoku2637d ago

If they stop with the piecemeal idea to maximize profit and put content in the game as well as make the loot drops better but its EA so yeah not likely to happen.

mgszelda12637d ago

Is it worth saving? Bioware is known for stories. Is there one worth telling here?

fonduktoe2637d ago

Too much damage done. It will have a niche player base but no where near the numbers they were expecting.

Spenok2637d ago

Considering the turnaround of No Man's Sky... yeah, this game can make changes to appease the masses.

Could Anthem live on? Tech allowing local server hosting existed, former executive producer says

BioWare's multiplayer shooter Anthem was terminated this week because EA no longer wanted to maintain servers for people to play the game on, and without them, no one can play the game. But the former executive producer of Anthem has revealed that BioWare had technology working, close to the game's release, that would enable us to host our own servers to play the game on.

EA/Bioware should allow us to host our own servers to let this game live on.

I'd be fine just playing it as a localhost and dumb as rocks AI bots. Just give me the choice.

Anthem Players Report Download Errors A Week Before Shutdown

BioWare and EA had previously said the game would be accessible to those who owned it until it shuts down on January 12.

Never buy online games unless there is some kind of refund policy.

Only days remain before EA will switch off the servers to BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game

Time flies (like a Javelin suit): there are only 10 days left to play BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game Anthem before the servers are switched off, presumably forever.

In my opinion, Anthem was a good IP that was worthy of a no man's sky or cyberpunk 2077 treatment.

To this day, their sub reddit is active and I was able to get into a game quickly a few weeks ago when I booted it up.

It is a shame EA and Bioware didn't want to give the game the overhaul it needed to turn it into a competent looter shooter.

GamerRN150d ago

They were close to releasing the overhauled version and then EA cancelled it

TheGamersDojo148d ago

I wholeheartedly agree. If ANY game deserved to get the rework/relaunch it deserved it was this one. More than literally any other. Even over FFXIV, No Mans Sky etc.

SlothLordPootus150d ago

I just finished this up a couple days ago. Although it's a bit repetitive and the story is meh, the game feels great to play. Even if you can only hop on the game for a couple hours before it shuts down, I think it's worth it.

chicken_in_the_corn150d ago

Really enjoyed this. Shame to see it go.

Software_Lover150d ago

I didnt know servers were still up. I could have been playing!!!

2nd comment attempt (1st doesn’t appear & this may register as duplicate):

They can spend billions to buy or get bought but they can’t spend a fraction of that to fix or overhaul a game that could have been truly special, smh.
