JIG: Nion Review

Nion is a stylish arcade-style game that incorporates a number of gameplay modes, including puzzle, accuracy, speed, survival, and several combinations of the above. It's built around the simple mechanic of shooting shapes that hover around the top of the screen. The order, how they're disposed of, how fast and accurately you must work, and the number of shots you use change depending on the game mode you're in. It's a very well-done game that keeps everything simple while offering up a number of different experiences.

I can´t wait for this game! Played the demo and it was awesome!

staticall1201d ago

At 4:34, you say «Stamina gauge», instead of «Spirit gauge». Which, IMO, is telling that points #6 and #7 are pretty much the same.
I would also say that #3 and #4 are kinda about the similar stuff - verticality allows for more places to be explored and filled with loot. But Nioh also had a lot of places to explore, open shortcuts and such.

Otherwise, game looks very good so far. And i even wouldn't mind if it was similar to Nioh, because i like that game a lot.

FreeckyCake1386d ago

No love for Fist Samurai or Second Samurai on Commodore Amiga?! Outrageous 😄

Umb1385d ago

I know right. How about Lords of the Rising Sun by Cinemaware on the Amiga.

Maybe by the author is too young to remember those masterpieces, or I'm too old and have experienced them!

Cosmoplayer841386d ago

For me the onimusha series is the best samurai game ever made!

MWH1386d ago

The fondest feudal japan game experiences i had were Samurai Shodown and Onimusha, especially Onimusha 1 and 2, they were the best of the best.

NVIDIA adds five new games to GeForce Now, including Nioh: Complete Edition

NVIDIA has announced that five new games have been added to its cloud gaming service, GeForce Now. These five new games are: Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV, Dead or Alive 6, Nioh: Complete Edition, Deadliest Catch: The Game and Dungeon Defenders: Awakened.

Neonridr2279d ago

hopefully it's asking for permission from the devs at least.

SegaGamer2279d ago

They shouldn't have to. It's totally ridiculous that devs have a problem with this.

Neonridr2279d ago

so you are ok with the fact that the money goes to nvidia and not to any of the game devs that people are playing on it? Or the fact that they weren't even checking with devs if it's ok that they allow their games to be used via this service?

CaptainCook2279d ago

Nvidia doesn't own steam and the games. They need to ask devs permission.

SegaGamer2278d ago (Edited 2278d ago )

@Neonridr

Yes, I am fine with that. The devs already received my money when I bought the game on the store they sold it on. Why should they receive more money just because I am renting a pc to play those games? It's not like Nvidia are selling those games and taking a chunk of the money themselves, they are just renting us a pc so we can access our Steam account and play our games.

If this is a problem for devs, then what about Xcloud? It's basically the same thing. Microsoft are going to allow us to stream our xbox games library on multiple devices, like pc's, laptops, tablets, phones, maybe even other games consoles, this is the same thing Nvidia are doing with Steam and other game launchers on pc.

Devs and publishers are just being greedy, this is what it comes down to.

RazzerRedux2278d ago

Geforce Now is essentially renting you remote access to a PC with Steam installed. Devs should look at this from the perspective that it will be bring more value to their game via accessibility and make it a more attractive purchase. Unfortunately some of these devs want compensation for what is essentially doing nothing. There is no work involved for the dev. The person has to have already bought the game for it to be on the service. Devs are definitely being greedy. This isn't about "asking permission". It is about getting paid. Again, for doing nothing.

TheGamez1002278d ago

Exactly. You can already stream any pc game locally using any 3rd party app. I don't see the harm in it if theres a company as well known as nvidia to allow us to stream games over the cloud to play any games we've already paid for. If anything, this would boost sales for companies lol.

ocelot072275d ago

They shouldn't have to ask. All Nividia is doing it giving people access to powerful PC's. You don't even have to pay Nvidia money to get access to them. The devs have all ready gotten our money for buying the game on steam.

Did developers ask blockbuster for money for renting out consoles back in the day? It's the same thing Nvidia are allowing people to access PC's to play there paid for games.

It's hard to take the devs and pubs side on this.

The real arguments from the devs who are against it are based on their inability to plan out how they monetize their games. That is certainly a valid reason not to want get on board with a service like this, but it's hard to side with them.

We paid them for their game. People who might not be able to afford a good pc may be inclined to purchase a game they otherwise couldn't. Nvidia foots the bill to expand the reach of the current storefronts like Steam. Those are the positives I see.

For the devs, going on GN may limit their opportunities to sign exclusive agreements with your Stadias or PSnows. It may also limit their impact of selling ports -- namely taking a PC game down to mobile. I'd say they're concerned about the quality of the experience degrading their work, but these are all scalable PC games so that seems disingenuous.

That's the crux of their argument though. They lose some control over the future revenue streams. I get that, but it's not very compelling imo.

So no, they shouldn't get a cut from Nvidia. Yes, Nvidia should seek permission to avoid being sued.

Abriael2273d ago

Should every PC manufacturer or rental agency ask for permission to let their customers install steam games they have already purchased?

Yours is as silly a take as it comes.

Neonridr2273d ago

are people not paying Nvidia to use this service? Shouldn't the devs or publishers at least be notified that this service is planning on supporting their titles? I mean Nvidia doesn't own any of the rights / licenses to these games. How is that a silly take?

Abriael2273d ago

@neondir: are people not paying PC manufacturers and rental companies to use their hardware?

No. Devs should not need to be notified, just as much as no one needs to notify them to let people install games they *already own and regularly purchased* on any other hardware.

Nvidia does absolutely nothing else than providing a virtual machine to install the game on. If anything, devs have everything to gain from this unless they simply want people to double-dip, in which case, F them, and it's not to "pay respect."

Blu3_Berry2277d ago

It's really stupid they need to ask permission for this as all it does is gain access to your library of games you already own. Instead it seems they want people to double dip. It's really sad and it shows their true colors.

kryteris2277d ago (Edited 2277d ago )

Should not have to ask for anything, this is the same as a visit to a local internet cafe. The only difference is some features are disabled which prevent the user from cheating, something pc has needed for a long time.
