Microsoft doesn't seem too keen on VR, but could gamers stand to gain from an Xbox VR? Could it help move the medium forward?

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Focus on the mains first. . Side dishes after.
It would be bad to do so imo.
Halolens 2 is getting a lot of positive early reactions. It seems that the focus there remains on the enterprise side though. I'd say stick to supporting VR in the Win 10 space, and maybe allow devices to be compatible on the next Xbox, but their focus should be on the core gaming market.
If they had stuck with those early VR plans for the X, I can't imagine they would have sold very many units to Xbox gamers. Maybe a few hundred thousand? Hardly seemed worth it to MS or their partners.
The company to watch in the VR/AR space is Apple. And if they do manage to hit with an untethered all-in-one device aimed at consumers, I'd expect them to be the leader very quickly.
Instead of developing a Vita 2, I wouldn't be shocked to see Sony put out a stand alone unit either.
Microsoft isn't even focusing on hardware in general. After next gen they''ll be a third party.
Sure why not.
They wanna go their own way, let them.
