First Burnout Paradise 2009 content pack detailed

criteriongames.com writes:

"We're finally ready to unveil the first in a wide range of new Burnout Paradise content for 2009.

Our first pack of the year will be called Burnout Paradise Party.

Burnout Paradise is an awesome social game, but the action's all online. With Party, we wanted to create something for when all the players are in one place – gathered around a single screen.

Fans of the classic Crash Mode from Burnout 2: Point of Impact will know that this is not the first time we've done something like this. And we hope the response to Party is as warm as it was for Crash mode.

So, if you like to get together and play games, it's time to break out the drinks, party hats and balloons!"

Now i gotta get it for sure, i had hoped for a proper crash mode or maybe the option to have chevrons save me constantly pausing the game so i can see where the hell i gotta go. Party mode beats all that.

NOT !!!!!!!!

PirateThom6419d ago

After all the free updates, I think it's only fair they make some extra cash and I will be buying this!

SullyDrake6419d ago

And it even has new Trophies/Achievements! Criterion really knows how to make EVERYONE happy, and more developers could benefit by taking notice.

walker016419d ago

they dont make me happy with this update, its soo lame.
im not gonna pay for somethin lame just for trophies

ugabugaz6419d ago

Can they make the colors any gayer...

SullyDrake6419d ago

Can you make yourself look like more of a moron?

The_Firestarter6419d ago (Edited 6419d ago )

Homophobic, much? Criterion Games have been making FREE updates for us, including new content for 2009. Albeit, this update will cost some money -- it'll open up Burnout Paradise in an all new way, including extra achievements/trophies. And you're concerned about the color scheme??? Wow.....

ugabugaz6419d ago

Yeah to tell you the truth i am... The art style and colors thus far have been perfect... I really don't see why they chose these super bright ones to be honest. And no i'm not homophobic. You would expect it in a barbie game or something but not here.
BTW i love Burnout Paradise and criterion as a developer in general.

In the same way, imagine you are playing COD4. You're in a middle of a huge firefight with a gray cloudy sky and suddenly out of nowhere you get rainbows and sunshine. I mean it just doesn't make sense.

whoelse6419d ago

I think the new theme goes well with 'Paradise' City although I think they should allow the user to choose which theme to use.

Burnout Paradise is the best arcade racer ever, now all they have to do as add crash mode back. And it will be perfect. This game is like the enegizer bunny it just keeps going and going. I pick this game up last month from Gamefly for $20.00. Probably the best $20.00 I ever spent.

Parapraxis6419d ago

At this rate, they'll have a split screen mode back in the game soon enough.
I'll buy this, even if I only play it a few times.
Critereon has damn well earned it.
They are giving the customers what they want, and doing it well. Other developers need to learn from them.

Help make other devs realize that games are more than just about a 1 shot product that you put out to sell, and leave it at that, they are committed to their fans.

Buy the game (retail or from PSN) and get this new pack when it comes out!

How Burnout Paradise bucked the trend and made open-world racing irresistible

Met with derision from existing Burnout-series fans at the time, Burnout Paradise remains arguably the greatest open-world racing game of all time. Here's why.

SullysCigar1117d ago

I don't know why - and I know I'm probably on my own here - but I liked Takedown more. I think it was just 'different' enough to feel fresh. I also loved the destruction.

On that note, a new Motorstorm would be nice! All that mud, dust and car pieces flying everywhere blew my mind on PS3 - imagine what they could do now.

NJShadow1116d ago

I loved Burnout Paradise, but Burnout 3: Takedown will always be the best game in the series, for me. Burnout 3 is arguably the most fun game ever made, with the greatest licensed soundtrack ever.

EazyC1117d ago

I played through the remaster quite recently. It's not as good as I remember, but I think a lot of that is because the "open world" thing was still pretty fresh back then.

I do think there's a gap in the market for a game like Burnout. With the new gen they could really make car damage a huge selling point again.

BrainSyphoned1117d ago

Paradise gave me open world burnout before I knew it was a thing.

CPTN MITCHELL1117d ago

Burnout paradise remastered and original are my favorite, i got the platinum trophy for both games the nighthawk is my favorite car

Einhander19711117d ago

Personally don't give a shit for open world racers. Give me a new Motorstorm, Split second, Outrun.

I think the crash mode should comeback. Tryng to make the most damage was very cool.

camel_toad1766d ago

That mode was so damn fun. Couldn't believe it when they ditched it.

Flewid6381766d ago (Edited 1766d ago )

Agreed.

Flewid6381766d ago (Edited 1766d ago )

Yeah that made for a good time.

Rebel_Scum1767d ago

Burnout 2 should be above 3 imo. The aftertouch takedown mechanic slowed down the gameplay too much in 3.

Flewid6381766d ago

That's the mechanic that made me enjoy Burnout 3 over the others. It wasn't until they introduced it that I considered the series any good.

Chocoburger1766d ago

I love Takedown, Revenge, and Paradise. Dominator was okay, but it clearly felt like a B-tier game.

After playing those awesome games, I went back to try out part 1 and it was rough. I didn't like the controls (whereas the others felt perfect to me), the elevator music was generic and not enjoyable to listen to.

Finally the game's difficulty was extremely high. I could beat all single player races in Takedown, Revenge, Paradise, Dominator, but could not get first place in the very first race for the first Burnout game. It demands perfection and one slight mistake is all it takes to lose. I have yet to play part 2, but I'm hoping it's more like part 3 than part 1.

ChasterMies1766d ago

Burnout Takedown is my favorite racing game of all time. My wife was addicted to crash mode.

Xenial1766d ago

As soon as I saw Burnout 3: Takedown at #1, I knew the list was legit. lol
