Drop doing hardware and focus on software. Microsofts always been about software, let Nintendo and PlayStation worry about the hardware. Microsoft just can't help it, they never could. They have to have their grubby little fingers in everything and they tank in the end. Windows Phone, Zone, Surface, even Windows. Google operating system is free. You wanna destroy Microsoft? Cripple their main money making staple, a free operating system. History has proven that every empire eventually falls.

No, it just gives you options. I will still play mostly on my console because is has a 82" screen and 7.1 surround sound and a 1000w subwoofer. A lot of game are better on the couch with that setup then in front of a small pc screen. I game on both.

Besides the few exclusives, what games are not on PC. Not sure I would call it a giant step forward, more like moving away from console gaming.

Phil Spencer pretty much handed the home console market over to Sony and Nintendo when he announced all future MS Xbox games will come to PC. MS are their own worst enemy.
And what's going to be the point of the next Xbox if it has no exclusive games?
MS should just do a Sega and publish games on multiple formats. Phil Spencer has ruined the Xbox brand.

A giant step forward away from consoles

There is no Microsoft game PC gamer want to play.
Microsoft is too busy for deceptive marketing and negative campaign to realize the real reason of XBOX failure.
They are repeating the same mistake they have made on Windows Phone.
Their favorite monopoly tactics won't work, if market has a fair competition.

It seems like a good idea, it could mean every Xbox One game on the digital store can now be available on the Windows Store if they weren't previously. The bad thing here is that most of the Xbox One version of these games don't support changing graphical options which while the developers work has been cut, they still need to implement PC specific features.

I wonder what this means for the back compat 360 and Original xbox games, if I can play them on my PC with the X enhancements, then I'm all for this honestly.

Xbox needs to go software only 360 hay days are gone wish they was back but they are gone now. This is mostly Spencer fault he needs to be ousted. Matrick xbox was brilliant

Microsoft is certainly on its way to completely transforming Xbox into a service that they can be in complete control of monopolize for their benefit, not yours. In other words... going third-party in a very soft way. They just don't have the decency to tell people in advance. Sugar-coated benefits and convenience in the short-term will score them some points, but expect to be blindsided by long-term fuckery. They can tell you from now until the end of next gen that they are committed to hardware... until the day they decide it's better for them not to.

I don’t think they are trying to do away with Xbox. They are trying to get their hands in everyone’s pockets. They wanna sell consoles and subscriptions. It’s about reaching customers you might not normally.
I love my consoles and will stick with whoever is playing games natively as long as possible. I don’t see internet speeds being good enough everywhere to go streaming only for years.

You would think that MS would bring PC games to Xbox One. You always hear how easy it would be but never get any hahaha... but MS doesn't think twice. I hope it works out for them cause true Xbox fans are console owners once you lose them. its over for Xbox!!

They really need to just accept that they suck at games and give up. It's nothing to be ashamed of. They're good at word processing and operating systems, they should be happy about that. Just leave the gaming sector to people who actually understand and care about it.

What I would REALLY love to see is the Backwards Compatibility(actually it's technically considered forwards compatibility) of older 360/original Xbox games in Windows 10.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
