This is exactly the reason why Sony dominated this gen.. they invested early in things they knew would help them be successful in the future.. just like investing in the studios early on for exclusivity for them to build a foundation and bang out amazing games this gen..

investment in vr.. will pay off huge in the future when VR will dominate the gaming space. and they will have again snatched up and built vr studios into god of war levels

IMO Sony did so well because they stayed in their lane, did what they do best. They let MS trip over themselves all gen, and Nintendo didn't even releases a direct competitor. Sony seems to have made consistency and quality their main focus for PlayStation. Thank God.

Says Dev...says dev... says dev...gamingbolt....says dev...

So much news to discover out there from upcoming PSVR games, Hololens 2, Oculus Quest, upcoming regular games, GDC, what 5G and faster Internet speeds will do for gaming, what streaming needs to be successful without harming regular gaming, the possible needs of storage space for larger next Gen games....

Nope....says dev...says dev...captain obvious. ..says dev...lack of journalism...says dev. ..

I'm putting a Vive on my wish list because I want to be ready for the coming VR explosion. If Sony focuses on VR for PS5 and Valve actually release some games for once it will take off big.
In the beginning VR was trash because it had no games but now there is a pretty good library out there and it's starting to be worth it, especially if it's going to work for 5+ years of more VR games.

I love my Vive, probably prefer it over my PSVR due to the 360 degrees. it's a great time to get into VR buddy, do it. Also, make sure you pick up Contractors VR.

Controllers are leagues better on the Oculus and it's cheaper.

I plan on investing in PSVR next week. I want to help support the platform so we get more games and more money invested into it. Not nearly as impressive or powerful as Vive (my friend has it, pretty mindblowing), but with the full backing of Sony, could still get some astounding games. I am excited for the future of the tech in both recreational and educational purposes. They're already building some insane haptic feedback devices, like suits that have bars that extend to your hands and arms that will provide pull to simulate weight.

For some reason I'm more excited about PSVR 2 than PS5. Can't wait...

Well, it's because it's the next leap in gaming, as important as 2D-3D. Games can become completely photorealistic, but it's the same experience unless something changes, like incredible AI and physics improvements, or the immersion that VR brings. There are so many ideas for VR that haven't been tapped into yet.

VR support is a requirement for future consoles I buy

30fps sucks. Especially on an OLED.
