Anthem review | PC Gamer

Anthem is deeply flawed and frequently frustrating, but it sure is gorgeous.

Razzer2521d ago (Edited 2521d ago )

They scored Crackdown 3 higher than Anthem. Wow.

spicelicka2521d ago

Despite being somewhat mediocre, Crackdown runs really well.

TheColbertinator2521d ago

Correct. Cloud holds up rather well.

Excitement for The Anthem DOWN!!!!

Excitement for The Division 2 UP UP UP!!!

I liked The Division so as long as number 2 is better in every single way, were in for a good game I'd say.

SCW19822521d ago

The voice acting is definitely worse than the first one.

pody2521d ago

I noticed that. The voiceacting in the first game was impressive. Even in all the little intel you picked up the voiceacting was terrific.

Kabaneri2521d ago

Ehh both are boring for the same reasons. At least you fly around in Anthem, The Division is a generic 3rd person shooter with bullet sponge enemies.

JeffGUNZ2521d ago

Did you even play the beta for the second one? All people, including me as I was in the private beta, are thrilled how they fixed the bullet sponge issues and the gun play is much better. The Division 2 is showing great promise to excell in most aspects the Division fell short.

EddieNX 2521d ago

Still enjoyed playing it with my friends and I'm very aware of some of the issues with The Division. If they can address those issues, it'll be a great game.

crazyCoconuts2521d ago

For any of these level grind kinda games, if you're playing with higher level players, isnt the bullet sponge aspect unavoidable? You're level 3 the enemy is level 10, and you have to hit him like 20 times in the head to bring him down right? I haven't played Division 2, so I'm just asking how they get around this mechanic....

Traecy2521d ago

The D2 beta was really fun!! I'm definitely buying it day one!

ramiuk12521d ago

raised alot of the concerns and issues i felt .
agree with almost all the review

patrick12521d ago

I feel that the reviews should probably be delayed to account for the day one patch. This is similar to the buggy Andromeda. Delays aren't the worst thing in the world.

xX-oldboy-Xx2521d ago

Big studio, big publisher - hold them to account, they should be crucified for releasing a sub-par product.

This isn't their 1st rodeo.

JeffGUNZ2521d ago

What? Don't release a game that needs a day one patch, is that too much to ask?

CorndogBurglar2521d ago

Why?

Most of the review doesn't even mention the bugs. Bugs only get mentioned at the very end. The rest is just talking about the game design, missions, and story.

It's just a bad game. Period.

Z5012521d ago (Edited 2521d ago )

This.
For example: The loading screens/time isn't a bug. It's bad game design.

Could Anthem live on? Tech allowing local server hosting existed, former executive producer says

BioWare's multiplayer shooter Anthem was terminated this week because EA no longer wanted to maintain servers for people to play the game on, and without them, no one can play the game. But the former executive producer of Anthem has revealed that BioWare had technology working, close to the game's release, that would enable us to host our own servers to play the game on.

EA/Bioware should allow us to host our own servers to let this game live on.

I'd be fine just playing it as a localhost and dumb as rocks AI bots. Just give me the choice.

Anthem Players Report Download Errors A Week Before Shutdown

BioWare and EA had previously said the game would be accessible to those who owned it until it shuts down on January 12.

Never buy online games unless there is some kind of refund policy.

Only days remain before EA will switch off the servers to BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game

Time flies (like a Javelin suit): there are only 10 days left to play BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game Anthem before the servers are switched off, presumably forever.

In my opinion, Anthem was a good IP that was worthy of a no man's sky or cyberpunk 2077 treatment.

To this day, their sub reddit is active and I was able to get into a game quickly a few weeks ago when I booted it up.

It is a shame EA and Bioware didn't want to give the game the overhaul it needed to turn it into a competent looter shooter.

GamerRN13d ago

They were close to releasing the overhauled version and then EA cancelled it

TheGamersDojo11d ago

I wholeheartedly agree. If ANY game deserved to get the rework/relaunch it deserved it was this one. More than literally any other. Even over FFXIV, No Mans Sky etc.

SlothLordPootus14d ago

I just finished this up a couple days ago. Although it's a bit repetitive and the story is meh, the game feels great to play. Even if you can only hop on the game for a couple hours before it shuts down, I think it's worth it.

chicken_in_the_corn13d ago

Really enjoyed this. Shame to see it go.

Software_Lover13d ago

I didnt know servers were still up. I could have been playing!!!

2nd comment attempt (1st doesn’t appear & this may register as duplicate):

They can spend billions to buy or get bought but they can’t spend a fraction of that to fix or overhaul a game that could have been truly special, smh.
