SOCOM: Confrontation is one of those games that you hate to see in its current state. You can tell that the potential of the game is there in theory, but its current incarnation is completely and tragically flawed. If you can get into a stable game that works, you can have fun, but you have to wade through a myriad of technical issues to find that game. Plus, with a large amount of its features missing without any known date of being added or implemented, Confrontation ultimately is a shell of what the game could have been: an excellent first step for a beloved franchise.

Last year I wrote an article titled, The State of SOCOM. I discussed my
love and history for the beloved third person shooter that helped pioneer
online multiplayer on consoles. It has been six years since we last had a
new SOCOM game.
Baffles me as to why they have not done anything with this franchise. Seeing as how it was #1 on the official PlayStation poll.
With all the trash put up weekly on the App Store why has nobody done a clone of this yet. I've been playing Defiance as my go to 3rd person since 2013 but still nothing like that old school Socom/Socom 2 up all night gameplay.
the only game on that list that's like socom is wild land if you want socom type games then you will have to invest in a PC
RAINBOW SIX: is the closest you'll get to Socom.
Also, in response to @lookatthisi
They let go the creators, and I think socom is a game that's hard to clone even the creators had a hard time making Socom 2, Socom 3.

"Would you purchase a game you can’t play for a single penny? Video game retailer GameStop seems to think that it is worth trying to sell to this market."
Depends the situation. Usually if they have a trade in X and get Y bonus for preowned purchases, a store will let you have the excess credit if you make 1 purchase and 1 cent is cheap enough where I wouldn't have to bother returning it or eating the cost out of laziness.

Stan replied passionately, sadness creasing his face, “they’re shutting us down. Offline, man, off-fucking-line. I dedicated my life to this, and it’s just ending. This is the last battle.” - PSLS
MAG will be missed, my all-time favorite shooter. They're shutting servers down in January.
Not bad at all
Socom Confrontation delivers another phenomenal shooting experience available only on Playstation 3
The patch that just came out yesterday morning has fixed a few of the serious issues Haynes is talking about. Most users on the official SOCOM boards (including myself) have had no trouble playing game after game for hours.
This game deserves more than a 4.5 - even in its current state. SOCOM had a disgraceful launch - one of the worse I have seen. Confrontation should have been delayed a month. But with one more patch to fix up the remaining problems and add trophy support (among other missing features), this game should be a 7/10 at the least.
1up already said they'd give an updated review when the problems are fixed. Maybe IGN and Gamespot (6.5/10) will do the same?
Hmm.. Maybe the better question is does SOCOM even deserve a 2nd chance?
Well, at least the bundled headset is awesome :P
The game has alot of technial issues but the game is fun as hell but I don't know why it has so many issues. I also don't think it deserves a 4.5 or else I wouldn't be playing almost every night.
With Sony delivering AAA game after AAA game after AAA game,Playstation 3 owners will be greatly enjoying themselves this holiday season
