It all sounds pretty "seen it, played it" before and very much meh to me...

UltraNova2647d ago

I did, I've put in close to 100 hrs in Destiny. Needless to say I had my fill.

Obscure_Observer2647d ago

Then why bother to show yourself on every Anthem article? Just curious.

Elwenil2647d ago

I don;t understand you fools who think just because someone has a negative opinion about a game, that they have no right to post that opinion on a article about that game. Are you implying that we should only limit comments to positive things or that we should only make comments you agree with?

CorndogBurglar2647d ago

"Then why bother to show yourself on every Anthem article? Just curious."

He has every right to post his negative comment in as many Anthem articles that get written if he wants. He wasn't being trollish. Just giving his thoughts.

Dragonscale2647d ago (Edited 2647d ago )

@obscure, we could ask you exactly that same question for countless articles. Its the whole point of this site fgs.

starchild2647d ago

@Elwenil

Nobody said anything about anyone not having the right to do it. But having the right to do something and it actually being a good thing to do are completely different things.

Let's be honest, most people that keep posting nothing but negative hateful things about a game or platform are doing it because they have an axe to grind. It's usually fanboy motivated. I think it's absolutely deplorable behavior.

There are many games and genres I don't like, but I never feel the need to go around telling people how terrible those things are. I'll never understand that behavior. I largely just ignore the things that don't look good to me and focus on the things that appeal to me. What a waste of life to go around spreading negativity about things you don't even like. People like that are why the gaming community is so absurdly toxic.

UltraNova2646d ago (Edited 2646d ago )

Starchild,

Anthem is an online only, EA produced, Bioware created Destiny me too effort. My comments above revolve around that fact. I had no negative feelings about any other stuff at that moment, just my pure thoughts about it. The negative stuff about Anthem have already been said countless times (departure from what we knew Bioware for and EA's bullshit) no need to regurgitate those points again.

Now if I was new here I would mistake your comment as a "beacon of logic", a "light of positivity" that iluminates our way in these dark dark N4G corridors....but I'm not, I can see right through that mask you wore when you made that pure concern trolling comment. So please if you want to defend anti-democratic discussions where people are allowed to say only "good" (by your standards) things about matters then you and Obscure can go somewhere else.

This game is not 100% like Destiny, just so you know.

Hydrazinezz2646d ago

Vanilla destiny had more content at launch than this game did. Hell, the division 2 BETA had more content than anthems full release.... hahahahahaha. PATHETIC

Nodoze2647d ago

Load time....ugh. During the demo they were AWFUL. Why has this not been addressed?

sagapo2647d ago

It has, Bioware is working on it.

pandehz2647d ago (Edited 2647d ago )

Yea they might be able to reduce it by a few seconds at most. I have never seen load times ever get massively reduced.

Kabaneri2647d ago

@pandehz
Bloodborne and Just Cause 3 both had massive post launch improvements whith their load times.

Hydrazinezz2646d ago

Bioware is a shadow of their former self. Anthem is a cash grab.

starsi3602647d ago

I know it’s an expensive option and not what everyone will want to spend money on, but I connected a Samsung 500gb SSD to go alongside a larger external HDD. Whatever I’m currently playing gets transferred to the SSD and it makes a very big difference, practically halving loading times. When 60 seconds goes down to 30 seconds it doesn’t sound much but it really does feel a lot better.

starchild2647d ago

Agreed. I have two SSDs in my PC and it makes a big improvement to load times.

BigTrain2646d ago

Try out an M.2 drive if you have the slot for it. It eradicates load times all together.

King_Noctis2646d ago

The problem is, by the time my PC finish loading my teammates have already arrived at the scene and sometimes already engaged in combat.

I know it is most likely because of my PC (I use a standard HDD after all), but this is ridiculous.

Hydrazinezz2646d ago

I wouldnt even give it that. 4/10 from me. Player of alpha, beta and now origin access. Every single issue still exists, the story blows, the combat is meh, the loot is completely stupid and boring and genreric, enemiez just pop up out of no where, textures dont load properly sometimes and lets not forget about the 4 minute loading screens. Remember when they said you would be in a seamless world? NOT TRUE. Every single thing you do is locked behind a loading screen. Leave fort? Loading screen, middle of a mission? Loading screen, oh you just got some loot and want to equip it? LOADING SCREEN. This game is a utter letdown and these fanboys will really stand up for this fucking swine. This is what you want in games? A $60 title to release with zero content and 2 end game missions???? But thats ok because they’ll “add more in the future” NO!!!! This shit should already be in the fucking game man this is patheitc, and ridiculous. This game should have been in development for another 2 years. DOA. The fucking division 2 BETAAAAAA had more content than the full release of anthem. HAHAHAHAHA.

Bluemaster772647d ago

Yea I agree with pretty much most of what people are reporting. The mechanics are fine, the technical issues have mostly been ironed out, but the game just feels very uninspired, cookie cutter and bland.

Which is sad because Bioware used to make some of the most immersive games of all time. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

elazz2647d ago (Edited 2647d ago )

Wild Mighty appears
EA throws money ball
Congratulations EA, you caught Mighty

A few years later
EA: Mighty use release game
Mighty hurt itself in confusion

jjb19812646d ago

I shat all over the demo because it was so boring. A buddy of mine convinced me try it. Now that the real game has opened up with all that there is to do and because the story makes sense now, I'm actually liking it. I blew through the 10 hour trial already since Friday. I retract all of my statements previous to this one. The load time is horrendous even on an SSD.

pandehz2646d ago

Yup the ssd only helps a little bit.

Could Anthem live on? Tech allowing local server hosting existed, former executive producer says

BioWare's multiplayer shooter Anthem was terminated this week because EA no longer wanted to maintain servers for people to play the game on, and without them, no one can play the game. But the former executive producer of Anthem has revealed that BioWare had technology working, close to the game's release, that would enable us to host our own servers to play the game on.

EA/Bioware should allow us to host our own servers to let this game live on.

Christopher124d ago

I'd be fine just playing it as a localhost and dumb as rocks AI bots. Just give me the choice.

Anthem Players Report Download Errors A Week Before Shutdown

BioWare and EA had previously said the game would be accessible to those who owned it until it shuts down on January 12.

anast133d ago

Never buy online games unless there is some kind of refund policy.

Only days remain before EA will switch off the servers to BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game

Time flies (like a Javelin suit): there are only 10 days left to play BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game Anthem before the servers are switched off, presumably forever.

In my opinion, Anthem was a good IP that was worthy of a no man's sky or cyberpunk 2077 treatment.

To this day, their sub reddit is active and I was able to get into a game quickly a few weeks ago when I booted it up.

It is a shame EA and Bioware didn't want to give the game the overhaul it needed to turn it into a competent looter shooter.

GamerRN136d ago

They were close to releasing the overhauled version and then EA cancelled it

TheGamersDojo134d ago

I wholeheartedly agree. If ANY game deserved to get the rework/relaunch it deserved it was this one. More than literally any other. Even over FFXIV, No Mans Sky etc.

SlothLordPootus136d ago

I just finished this up a couple days ago. Although it's a bit repetitive and the story is meh, the game feels great to play. Even if you can only hop on the game for a couple hours before it shuts down, I think it's worth it.

chicken_in_the_corn136d ago

Really enjoyed this. Shame to see it go.

Software_Lover136d ago

I didnt know servers were still up. I could have been playing!!!

victorMaje136d ago

2nd comment attempt (1st doesn’t appear & this may register as duplicate):

They can spend billions to buy or get bought but they can’t spend a fraction of that to fix or overhaul a game that could have been truly special, smh.
