By leveraging its services, Microsoft's first-party plan is multi-faceted and not reliant on straightforward sales.

It's hype for people who fall for there bs

They say what people want to hear and not deliver

UltraNova2644d ago

There will always be sheep amongst us.

M$ talks a good game, and says there all about the consumer, says there going to focus on 1st party exclusives. Talk is cheap, and M$ has a history of saying one thing and doing the opposite. Now I'm not saying that they haven't learned there lesson, but I wouldn't be surprised if they fall back into there old ways...

Saigon2643d ago (Edited 2643d ago )

Though I agree with everyone's comments, I have to admit they are trying to change. The only problem is, how long will this new change last. We all know talk is cheap but can they really walk the walk. You know a leopard cannot change its spots, also the tiger cannot change its stripes. I am just sayin'

JackBNimble2643d ago

There seem to be sheep on every console who can't help but follow the group narrative .

"Microsoft's First-Party Game Plan is Unique"

Just as unique as Terry Crews in Crackdown 3. Hopefully everything works out for Xbox in the future.

Sophisticated_Chap2643d ago

Hey THC, it might be good to ask people who actually use Xbox Live, in order to find out if its any good. Just saying its BS doesn't make it so.

No Way2643d ago

There is always that one fanboy who is there first one to comment on anything they think is their "enemy."

This articles fanboy is THC CELL... Not surprising.

“Microsoft learned from its mistakes quite well, and even iterated on Sony's mistakes--the creation of Xbox Game Pass was a direct response to Sony's ailing PS Now service.”

https://m.ign.com/articles/...

Yeah because as we all know having a product that owns 52% of the market is a sign that it’s ailing.

You just know your service is especially ailing when it offers more content than its competition as well.

https://blog.us.playstation...
https://gearnuke.com/xbox-g...

You might as well call it quits when said product helps contribute to a service making more revenue on its own than your competition’s entire division or company as a whole even though you’re not pushing it to the forefront nearly as much as your competition is.

I think you need to re-read that quote:

"Microsoft learned from its mistakes quite well, and even iterated on Sony's mistakes--the CREATION of Xbox Game Pass was a direct response to Sony's ailing PS Now service."

Game Pass wasn't created yesterday and if you look back at the articles at the time PS Now wasn't even worth half of what it is today. When the service was pure streaming with noticeable input lag it was rare to see it get praised and if you search back at articles in the timeframe since its release and before Game Pass you can see there was not much positive to say about it.

Wasn't it only 6 months ago that PS Now got the ability to download games as well which is what saved the service and made it what it was? The service has been available for roughly 5 years and your acting like the features it has today were available for the first 4 which they were not.

They haven't learned really much. Except more studios to more produce more games

starchild2643d ago

Well, that's the main thing they've been weak in. All the new studios are certainly a good sign. We have to wait of course to see how it plays out, but it's exactly what they needed to do.

The insufficient number and quality of their exclusive output has been their biggest problem. They've actually been pretty good in most other areas. But it seems they are aware of the issue and are taking steps to rectify it.

lollord2643d ago (Edited 2643d ago )

Their first part strategy is to release vaporware from indie devs like ninja theory or inxile to put on game pass. They've given up on making good games at this point.

TK-552643d ago (Edited 2643d ago )

Amazing how Ninja Theory was a respected developer when they made Heavenly Sword and Hellblade was a console exclusive inst it?

AdmGenAladeen2643d ago

Hellblade was released as a console exclusive but it's not anymore. It's on ps4, X1 and PC. It was also just announced coming to Switch.

xX-oldboy-Xx2643d ago

By their own admission they were an indie dev, with a small talented team. They burned PS3 owners, sent Multi-platform - that bombed hard.

Sucked up to PS4 owners who then had the good grace to forgive and forget, buy over a million copies of their indie game.

Then they jump in bed with ms, after PS4 owners saved their bacon. If Senuas had've bombed - there would be no Ninja Theory.

Tameem is a slimebag, I hope ms investment reaps about as much success as that other windbag Peter Mokyneux.

TK-552643d ago (Edited 2643d ago )

@AdmGenAladeen

"Hellblade was released as a console exclusive but it's not anymore."

That's why I saw "was" -_-

@xX-oldboy-Xx

"By their own admission they were an indie dev, with a small talented team. They burned PS3 owners, sent Multi-platform - that bombed hard."

Wrong. Hellblade is an entirely different style of game than what they're used to making. Before hand they were solid Hack'n'slash developer that made pretty good games but they were not indie. Nothing too spectacular but their games always met expectation for the most part. Hellblade was their first project as an independent studio so you could claim they were at that point. Dunno what you're talking about but they didn't burn PS3 owners at all. You're just talking shit.

"Sucked up to PS4 owners who then had the good grace to forgive and forget, buy over a million copies of their indie game."

They weren't sucking up to PS4 owners. I'm assuming you're referencing the game being a console exclusive which was purely because of funding. It was their first independent project and the studio had never had any success like it before so limiting the release platforms initially was a wise move.

"Tameem is a slimebag, I hope ms investment reaps about as much success as that other windbag Peter Mokyneux."

Pretty much hoping that people lose their jobs now eh?

xX-oldboy-Xx2643d ago (Edited 2643d ago )

TK-55 - you must missed all the dev diaries regarding the development of Senuas sacrifice. It was make or break for NT, and PS4 owners answered the call.

Now, what if they decided xbox was the platform to develop exclusively for? Bye, bye NT.

Wake up buddy, innovation doesn't sell on xbox - something has to be a hit already.

TK-552643d ago (Edited 2643d ago )

@xX-oldboy-Xx

"TK-55 - you must missed all the dev diaries regarding the development of Senuas sacrifice. It was make or break for NT, and PS4 owners answered the call."

Oh I watched them. You on the other hand clearly didn't actually research the sales data because the game had a PC release. Turns out PS4 gamers weren't exactly the powerhouse you're claiming: https://www.google.com/amp/...

Looks like it was the unexpected support on PC that helped makes the game a success.

"Now, what if they decided xbox was the platform to develop exclusively for? Bye, bye NT."

Probably slightly lower console sales due to the smaller install base. But as I've shown the PC sales were even with the PS4's so it would've been successful either way.

"Wake up buddy, innovation doesn't sell on xbox - something has to be a hit already."

Well Cuphead released a few months later and has sold extremely well. So maybe you're just talking BS again?

Ninja Theory is an outstanding studio.

sprinterboy2643d ago

Under rated for sure, annoyed me ps3 owners didn't support HS, but hay the sheep followed in there droves to the cod/bro shooters crowd unfortunatly.

xX-oldboy-Xx2643d ago

sprinterboy - they did peanut, it just didn't meet NT ridiculous sales goals.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio12d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing12d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9212d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit12d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing12d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9212d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
