Microsoft has long been considered the “loser” of this generation, and while that doesn’t necessarily mean failure, it does mean there’s a lot of catching up to do. With the Nintendo Switch already catching up to estimated Xbox One sales numbers (Microsoft has kept those numbers hidden), a lot needs to happen and fast if Phil Spencer and his crew want to be a number one contender again. Luckily, a lot of puzzle pieces seem to be falling in place for the company.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Xbox One is getting trounced by PS4 and Switch is catching up fast so they’re turning Xbox into a service. I call that a last resort not a comeback.
Catch up from what? It’s impossible for Xbox One to become the console with most third party sales, most hardware sales, system selling exclusives, worldwide appeal, & etc.
Crackdown 3 looks like another underwhelming Xbox One exclusive set to release in under two weeks yet this article asks if Microsoft is making a comeback 😂
Oh here we go again, every year is a "comeback year" for MS and they always fail.
There isn't any "comeback." They lost already. Finishing a race is not a comeback. When there's only three competitors and you're racing to stand at the third tier of a podium is not a comeback.
Seriously, what could they possibly announce this year that would make Sony shake in their boots? First party games? Sony has nearly mastered that. First look at a possible fable? Would that make Sony quiver? Sony has games like Horizon. Announcing "high fidelity vr" again? Sony has vr already with a ton of exclusives. A streaming service on other platforms that lessons the value of dedicated hardware. Because, you know it's all about "options".... in not buying your hardware. And what could Microsoft do that Sony hasn't done first except come up with another pay scheme.
Oh I know. I think I got it. In order to increase their market share and enter new markets, Microsoft will pull at your heart strings and announce a new CAT CONTROLLER.

Because cats love video games too and would like to play. It would only take a subscription of 70 cents a day to fund it and get it started. Please. There are needy cats that need your help before this Gen is over and it's too late.
