How Anthem Will Grow And Evolve After Release

TSA writes: "The long build up to Anthem’s release is finally coming to an end, as the game will filter out onto PC and consoles in the second half of this month. It’s been preceded by two demos, but they can only give a small snippet of the gameplay feel and mission design, which leaves many questions around the endgame, how BioWare will continue to grow and expand the game as a live service, and more."

No more gambling my £45 in the hope a publisher will make a game worth it in the future. Especially games that are likely to ask for more money in order to feel complete.

I'll probably give it at least 6 months then until they've patched all the cr*p out of it. Maybe a year to see what they add. Certainly not day one for me this time.

Or you could just end up with a scenario like Destiny where it felt like each patch was there to remove something good. Many other examples like Minecraft and WoW where people enjoy the original product a lot more than the end result.

In other words, if you want the complete game, you have to wait for the inevitable game of the year edition.

Why can’t we have good MMO games at release ?

Glad they start the interview with a bathroom joke. Would've been a perfect segue to discuss its piss-poor performance.

I was hyped for this. It felt fun in the VIP demo when it actually loaded... but there's still too much loading in the open world for a 2019 release. Performance on X1X was awful, PC performance was all over the place but markedly better. I defended the game. *Edit - the powers and flying felt fun, customizing my Javelin was cool. The game looks good when the framerate can behave.*

But I can't now. Last night I chose to play God of War and scour the map for the final Ravens. Errands in a 95% complete game were more enticing than my desire to play a limited time demo that had a special event going on. The enemies are soulless sponges. We shoot at them with no strategy. The big enemies are just as stupid as the small ones.

Pre-order cancelled. Maybe it'll be fun in three months when they have the inevitable 50%-off desperation sale. But I'd rather waste my hours looking for little green birds than stare at loading screens shooting derpy enemies running in straight lines.

30fps sucks. Especially on an OLED.
