Nintendo's Stance On Directs Hasn't Changed Despite Gap Between Presentations

Nintendo fans are hungry for a Nintendo Direct right now. You know that, we know that, and we're pretty sure Nintendo knows that, but there's still no sign of a presentation in our near future. So what's going on?

Yh I'm starting to have Withdrawal symptoms now. Seriously Nintendo make with the Direct!!!

Something special is behind this silence. It's too odd of Nintendo to not have a January Direct. I'm just glad they mentioned they have multiple unannounced games coming in 2019 and one of which "will delight fans to know...and make everyone happy". I'm buzzing it could be Mario Kart 9, F-Zero, Donkey Kong in 3D or even wildly Super Mario Sunshine 2 ...lol. I'm leaning towards the reality of Mario Kart 9 because that one is about as "everyone" as it possibly gets outside Pokemon and Super Mario. Mario Kart 9 would break the internet and cause Nintendo fan hysteria. Now keep in mind they said "fiscal year 2019" which in Japan runs from April 1st 2019 till March 31st 2020. That is why it could very well be Mario Kart 9. I would lose it. :)

Yh I think the least we can expect is that when the next Direct does inevitably come, it will be amazing!!!

eagle212672d ago (Edited 2672d ago )

I agree. They probably are considering what's best to reveal before E3 and what to save for E3. But remember they had no problem teasing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate before E3 last year. :)

It is about time for another mariokart although 8 is still selling stupid well

Still waiting for the next Direct

King_Noctis2672d ago

If your stance haven’t changed then announce a new Direct already. Even MS has a gaming show before you this year (Inside Xbox is happening tomorrow), so what are you waiting for Nintendo?

anonymousfan2672d ago

Sure... But at least Nintendo is going to have presentations unlike Sony! I understand they're preparing next gen but still I don't understand why they had to drop everything else.

I think what we're seeing is a company that's kind of used up their collateral over the last 2 years and right now they are a little "threadbare" with what they are ready to show us. My guess would be they were originally going to use January to show off Metroid Prime 4, but instead we got the video announcing it's delay. Just within the last 2 years we have gotten Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Zelda, Splatoon, Pokémon, Xenoblade, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, etc. Plus we just saw Animal Crossing and Luigis Mansion 3 in the last direct along with getting a new trailer for Yoshi's Crafted World. Really the only things I can think of that they could show us that we haven't seen are Bayonetta 3 and the new Pokémon game.

The franchises you name house many types of gameplay. Like a 2D Zelda would be totally welcomed by Zelda fans. Link Between World's released in 2013. Then there's games like Pikmin 4 and a new Punch-Out!!. Nintendo has so much they can pull from...including mentioning that multiple new IP's were in development around the time Odyssey launched. And here is a link to the new IP's story:

There is a bizarre lack of information on Fire Emblem: Three Houses, when it's (supposedly) releasing within the next 4+ months.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing30d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit30d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing30d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9230d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
