One game in particular that I adore though seems to get quite the amount of flack from current gamers: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. While I'm sure nostalgia helps with my admiration towards the game, it took me off guard when I noticed the current amount of negativity surrounding a game that I feel I could boot up at any point and enjoy it just as much today as I did almost a decade and a half ago."
IGN : How does the new The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, released in 2025 for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and PS5, compare to the original 2006 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion released on Xbox 360, played via Xbox Series X/S Backwards Compatibility?
With The Elder Scrolls 6 still far into the future fans have been taking matters into their own hands with projects like Skyblivion.
Skyblivion remakes Oblivion in Skyrim's engine, and the huge mod is nearing completion, but the team could use some assistance.
My first 360 game. Loved it.
Then came the ring of death and I moved to ps.
Incredible game. Absolutely blew me away back in the day.
I still play Oblivion every other year. My first and favorite Elder Scrolls even though I put more time into Skyrim.
I didn't realize there was negativity around this game. I thought everyone felt pretty much the same about it and thought it was fantastic.
I like it better than Skyrim by a long shot.
Negativity? Black sheep? Forgotten child? What are you talking about? The game was stellar in its day, and still holds up despite dated graphics.
