Apparently logistic reasons. If this keeps on going for them, I can see future titles from devs not working with them

Not working with Sony? What has kept up? Sony isn't known to be difficult to work with. Just have to meet their compliance standards.

Not sure when the game is set to release on PS4, but it's releasing on Thursday on Switch and Steam. Sony only updates the store for new game on Tuesdays in the US, unless they get an exception for some games which release on Fridays. Not sure if its the same in other territories.

It's possible it didn't meet some compliance standard, and once returned, they didn't resubmit a new build that would fix the problem in enough time to release it on the 21st. This is quite common with smaller devs, who may not be aware of all the policies that have to be met, and they don't usually have a guy dedicated to making sure everything is kosher by the console makers standards. Sony is less prone to push through a compliance test for smaller devs, and it can take 2-3 weeks on average for any compliance build to be approved for release.

@rain and @slacker

i appreciate rainslackers insight on these matters and hope he doesn't get deterred by the mountain of crazy people on n4g

If I haven't been deterred yet, I doubt this comment would do it.:)

My friends game Treachery in Beatdown City was originally planned for PlayStation Mobile & PSVita but PlayStation Mobile Engine & Sony were being really difficult to work with. They abandoned Sony to work on PC & Unity and then Nintendo approached them to put it on Switch and Nintendo has been exceptionally good to work with. Now it's only coming to PC & Switch and skipping Sony platforms. Sony doesn't have a widespread rep of being tough to work with on indies and for the most part, they are not I'm sure but it's not unheard of.

Sony does have some policies which can trip up small indie devs....or even regular devs. I've dealt with them before in my time. They're not impossible to work around, but if you don't know the proper channels to go through, you don't get much help in getting things done the way they want. For the most part, if you can't meet compliance, their compliance team sends curt messages telling you what to fix. If you need actual technical guidance on how to do that, there are other channels one has to go through, but for future reference, maybe mention to your friend the dev forums can answer most questions.

What, because he give what he thinks is a valid explanation for this issue? What is the perfect world in your mind then?

Straight to the doom and gloom. The writers of these articles sure do know their target audience.

DEAGLETURK2588d ago

i hear first time this game and developer, maybe trying some dirty advertising tactics

sprinterboy2587d ago

Just watched a YouTube trailer of the game, surprised anyone is actually releasing it on there stores tbh, looks absolute shite and I enjoy the r-type style games too

isarai2587d ago

Well to be fair he never says it's Sony's fault, he just says "logistics" which covers anything in the pipeline between his workstation and the Sony representatives screen. Not saying it isn't it could entirely just be some weak link employee somewhere, but it could just as likely be a tech error somewhere along the line. "logistics" is far too broad to come to any real conclusion on what exactly is going on, but most devs have stated having a pretty easy going streamlined experience working with them so this is at least out of character.

Interesting, but kinda sucks it's affecting the release of his game

Teflon022587d ago

They probably forgot to capitalize the S in PlayStation in the game. They definitely don't play about the names of the products they own lol.

TheColbertinator2587d ago

Sony is acting very unfairly to all game developers,

ApocalypseShadow2587d ago

Especially the developers on the competition's platform by embarrassing them with yearly, award winning games.

Very unfair.

The Wood2587d ago (Edited 2587d ago )

Not just unfair to game developers but unfair to the Xbox too. . .they've been heartlessly bullying and battering it all gen. . .

Very very unfair

Teflon022587d ago

Don't forget, they've been extremely unfair to my pockets. Giving me games available nowhere else. How can we afford such a lack of respect for our pockets

Very very very unfair

OffRoadKing2587d ago

You forgot the /s cause no way could you have been serious with that comment.

The Wood2587d ago

Lol. . We know TheColbertinator trolls for sport. . He's not delusional or dumb. . Just playful. . We returned in kind

Devil Engine Review (Switch) | Hey Poor Player

Frank at Hey Poor Player writes: "From its fantastic presentation to its lofty challenge, Devil Engine is a game that often humbled me but kept me coming back for more. Still, I have to say that those new to the shoot 'em up genre or averse to a hardcore challenge may want to get their bullet-dodging fix elsewhere."
