Not played on it much but can honestly say, it's the worst hardware Nintendo have ever made. Why it sells I've no idea..

Like I’m going to take CNN’s opinion on gaming seriously

If you have the need to game mobile, it's a great mobile system. If you want a quality home system, and have NO use for mobile gaming at all, whatsoever.... it is terrible aside from Nintendo's exclusives. Myself, I wish Nintendo would make games for other platforms (Steam to be exact..) Then we wouldn't have to put up with terrible hardware for Nintendo games. Breath of the Wild would have been amazing running at 4k/60fps (and yes, emulations blah, blah.. I don't care for that crap either). I don't game when I'm out and about that's where you actually live life. When I have the time to game, it's at home on a high quality setup with amazing graphics and performance. Squinting at a 6" screen to game is not my thing.

They just hit 32M+ in the second year of the system's life, and Smash hit sales speed records that other fighters wish they had even half of within their first 2 months.
I even remember a couple of particular people on this site [for the sake of peace I won't name names, but you know who you are...] who outright said things similar to "I don't expect Smash to hit super-high numbers compared to multiplats like the upcoming Mortal Kombat".
So much for that.

If this is what CNN considers a slowdown, then I hate to think what they think a hard stop is.XD

Uh....it JUST outsold PS4. It has 5 games that sold over 10 million copies. So no.

I mean it's not like they've tried over the last two years to REALLY impress, first year was aiight. There haven't been any meaningful updates to the switch, no features added in other than YouTube and that took 2 years. Aside from Bethesda not many of the big publishers are supporting the Switch either. They're taking forever to Port over the Wii U games people actually want on the Switch and their online is still lackluster. But let's be honest if you bought a Switch you bought it knowing well that it was going to be lacking and that's fine cause all you wanna do is play some Nintendo games. I mean it isn't alright cause they're behind in so many ways but it's aiight cause games

We'll see, when Pokemon and Animal Crossing both sell over 10 million each this year lol. Will see a nice boost in hardware sales when they release as well.

It wore off when I saw pokemon lets go running at 18fps in handheld mode. It's a gameboy remake ffs!

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
