Anthem: BioWare dev talks loot, weapons, and endgame

BioWare producer Scylla Costa says: "You unlock new Javelin suits at level 2, 8, 16, and 26. So when you have your second javelin suit, you're going to start getting your first rare items like the blue loot drops. And from level 10 to 20, you're getting the epic loot drops. Your goal then is to start crafting better weapons and gear because by now you have the blueprints and you're doing the stronghold activities, which give better rewards."

The game played like shit, I guess, Bugs and Bioware are hand to hand.

thrust2674d ago

It was very good fun tho!

Unspoken2674d ago

Meh. After playing the demo I'm going to hold off until the first major patch and revisit.

Game play was fun, core loop could be enjoyable. I see this game as dead on arrival due to lack of content and loot diversity .Also loading times where atrocious. Don't get me wrong , i enjoyed the game that i have had access too, although i am apprehensive. As, i feel this will have a massive content drought.

I played the alpha, and felt the game movement was too fast. They should've pulled it back and made it more like Gears of war in character speed. I know it would've been slower. The starting prologue where you're walking through the mountains, big mobs, larva everywhere etc, felt so epic, but you ended up moving so fast through it, that it was a big loss of design.

Then I got to the point where you get a larger map and can fly, the game felt boring right away. Reminded me of the old World of Warcraft gyphon/flight system, huge world, but you spent 5-15 minutes getting to your location. But in Anthem, you had some control of your character, but still needed to fly straight for 5 minutes.

I think I managed 45-55minutes in the Alpha, before I turned it off and deleted it. It feels like it wants to compete with Destiny, and the Division by being too similar to both.

Yea The gameplay is fine it’s everything else that I’m cautious about

txboy052674d ago

I think this game will be great, I really enjoyed the demo. I just don’t understand how some people are already claiming the game has no content but it’s yet to be released. I doubt anybody making those claims has played the full game, so let’s wait to pass judgement on that.

BenRC012674d ago

It's a real shame that you can't believe a single word devs say anymore.

And the $20 charge for lazily recoloured suits, available at least a month after purchase when mugs have already paid for the experience.

Could Anthem live on? Tech allowing local server hosting existed, former executive producer says

BioWare's multiplayer shooter Anthem was terminated this week because EA no longer wanted to maintain servers for people to play the game on, and without them, no one can play the game. But the former executive producer of Anthem has revealed that BioWare had technology working, close to the game's release, that would enable us to host our own servers to play the game on.

EA/Bioware should allow us to host our own servers to let this game live on.

I'd be fine just playing it as a localhost and dumb as rocks AI bots. Just give me the choice.

Anthem Players Report Download Errors A Week Before Shutdown

BioWare and EA had previously said the game would be accessible to those who owned it until it shuts down on January 12.

Never buy online games unless there is some kind of refund policy.

Only days remain before EA will switch off the servers to BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game

Time flies (like a Javelin suit): there are only 10 days left to play BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game Anthem before the servers are switched off, presumably forever.

In my opinion, Anthem was a good IP that was worthy of a no man's sky or cyberpunk 2077 treatment.

To this day, their sub reddit is active and I was able to get into a game quickly a few weeks ago when I booted it up.

It is a shame EA and Bioware didn't want to give the game the overhaul it needed to turn it into a competent looter shooter.

GamerRN146d ago

They were close to releasing the overhauled version and then EA cancelled it

TheGamersDojo144d ago

I wholeheartedly agree. If ANY game deserved to get the rework/relaunch it deserved it was this one. More than literally any other. Even over FFXIV, No Mans Sky etc.

SlothLordPootus147d ago

I just finished this up a couple days ago. Although it's a bit repetitive and the story is meh, the game feels great to play. Even if you can only hop on the game for a couple hours before it shuts down, I think it's worth it.

chicken_in_the_corn147d ago

Really enjoyed this. Shame to see it go.

Software_Lover146d ago

I didnt know servers were still up. I could have been playing!!!

2nd comment attempt (1st doesn’t appear & this may register as duplicate):

They can spend billions to buy or get bought but they can’t spend a fraction of that to fix or overhaul a game that could have been truly special, smh.
