Anthem demo is a clusterf*k, with numerous connection errors and loading issues on Expedition

DSOGaming writes: "The VIP demo for Anthem was released a little more than one hour ago and things are not looking good. Electronic Arts and BioWare claimed that this demo is not a beta and would represent the experience that gamers would be getting at launch, however this definitely feels like a beta."

Are you really surprised.. These days anything with, EA attached seems to turn into a hot mess...

cleft52684d ago

The sad thing is that the game itself is actually enjoyable. But these tech issues damn near make it unplayable.

PeaSFor2684d ago

I found the alpha to be a disaster gameplay wise(flying mechanic was trash..yet you are supposed to rely on it A LOT), wont even try the beta(uh "demo") after what ive seen its pretty much the same shitfest.

Was kinda interested a first(mainly for the loot aspect) but EA and Bioware still cant get their shit together after all..

UltraNova2684d ago (Edited 2684d ago )

Wait, arent alphas and betas held for fixing these issues? Lets wait and see how the final code holds up before passing judgement shall we?

Tell us something we don't know.

admittedly when i first tried it it had a bunch of the problems mentioned, but i came back to it a few hours later and its been fine since. i feel like ppl just love to overreact to make drama - especially when it comes to controversial studios like EA.

At the end of the day after the wackiness, when it starts working, the demo is awesome. the graphics are mind-blowing on the One X, the details are crazy. The firefights are a blast, the voice acting is great, and the talking animations are even pretty good. i've only logged a few hours but so far im pleased.

Gamers overreact? That never happens ever! s/

The truest comment here.

The game is a fucking mess right now say what u will

Dragonscale2684d ago

There are genuine reasons as to why people hate ea and its fully deserved.

razascallinus2684d ago

I would probably enjoy this more on the Pro then the X to be honest. Looks awesome though!

thrust2684d ago (Edited 2684d ago )

why would you play on a less powerful machine?

Killa782684d ago

This is why games have betas.

They should extend it though as courtesy to their fans.

Problem is that EA uses betas as a means to sell pre orders. It's far too late in in the production cycle for it to be a beta to tackle anything but server load. Connectivity issues not related to max capacity with 4 weeks to go... And some bugs too. . Even then these issues are recurring for EA games so it's not as if they are learning from prior launches.

Anyway we'll see how it turns out. Might be EA's last chance to not become EA sports only.

Larrysweet2684d ago

Accept this is not a beta get it right this is slice of main game launch is soon this game is in trouble

bluefox7552684d ago

Beyond that, it just doesn't look that fun.

Gaming4Life19812684d ago

Looks really fun to me but I wanted this game ever since I saw it at e3 and unless this game is truly bad I'm a get it.

Could Anthem live on? Tech allowing local server hosting existed, former executive producer says

BioWare's multiplayer shooter Anthem was terminated this week because EA no longer wanted to maintain servers for people to play the game on, and without them, no one can play the game. But the former executive producer of Anthem has revealed that BioWare had technology working, close to the game's release, that would enable us to host our own servers to play the game on.

EA/Bioware should allow us to host our own servers to let this game live on.

I'd be fine just playing it as a localhost and dumb as rocks AI bots. Just give me the choice.

Anthem Players Report Download Errors A Week Before Shutdown

BioWare and EA had previously said the game would be accessible to those who owned it until it shuts down on January 12.

Never buy online games unless there is some kind of refund policy.

Only days remain before EA will switch off the servers to BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game

Time flies (like a Javelin suit): there are only 10 days left to play BioWare's ill-fated multiplayer game Anthem before the servers are switched off, presumably forever.

In my opinion, Anthem was a good IP that was worthy of a no man's sky or cyberpunk 2077 treatment.

To this day, their sub reddit is active and I was able to get into a game quickly a few weeks ago when I booted it up.

It is a shame EA and Bioware didn't want to give the game the overhaul it needed to turn it into a competent looter shooter.

GamerRN151d ago

They were close to releasing the overhauled version and then EA cancelled it

TheGamersDojo149d ago

I wholeheartedly agree. If ANY game deserved to get the rework/relaunch it deserved it was this one. More than literally any other. Even over FFXIV, No Mans Sky etc.

SlothLordPootus151d ago

I just finished this up a couple days ago. Although it's a bit repetitive and the story is meh, the game feels great to play. Even if you can only hop on the game for a couple hours before it shuts down, I think it's worth it.

chicken_in_the_corn151d ago

Really enjoyed this. Shame to see it go.

Software_Lover151d ago

I didnt know servers were still up. I could have been playing!!!

2nd comment attempt (1st doesn’t appear & this may register as duplicate):

They can spend billions to buy or get bought but they can’t spend a fraction of that to fix or overhaul a game that could have been truly special, smh.
