Why Anthem Needs to Succeed

Whether one has faith in BioWare’s ability to deliver on its ambitious promises with Anthem or doubts EA’s restraint, everyone seems to agree that the game’s success is critical for all parties involved.

PiNkFaIrYbOi2665d ago

Eee, I believe most of the players have given up on this game. Or rather most of the fans of Bioware have for the most part.

Eonjay2664d ago

More importantly games don't 'need' to succeed. Gamers have the power to decide what succeeds based on their interest and satisfaction. I am frustrated with journalists and PR firms trying to take our power away.

Spenok2663d ago

That's a joke right? Fan reaction to the demo has been fantastic. Minus the frustrations with connectivity, the 100+ facebook groups I'm in have been severely positive, with the outlying negative or "meh" comments.

From the gameplay videos I've seen so far, Anthem doesn't interest me. I'm more of a single player don't bother me with online crap gamer.

ninerguy16082664d ago

So you're a single player gamer not interested in online crap. Why did you watch the videos in the first place?it's been know to be an online game since announced.

lelo2play2664d ago

Watched the videos simply to confirm the game was crap.
Better be safe then sorry.

starchild2664d ago

I'm more of a single player gamer too, but I still play some multiplayer games online. I haven't seen anything about Anthem that would lead me to believe it's "crap". I've seen some complaints that amount to nitpicks and others that I flat out don't agree with. I think this is yet another example, in a long list of others, of multiplats that will be downplayed and nitpicked to death.

At least everything is matchmaking. It just dumps you into a group and only forces you to stick with them if you’re running a mission

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH2664d ago

After playing it for several hours I can honestly say that I haven’t been this excited for a game in a very long time. It was fun, fast, and beautiful to look at. I do wish you could hover directly from a jump and I wish you didn’t have to hold down a button to change weapons I’d prefer simply tapping the button but other than that I really enjoyed it. Oh yes and the menus needs some work, you have to tab through to many menus to get where you want to get to and last complaint is the fact that you can’t change weapons during a mission or see what loot you picked up until the end. If BioWare makes fixes these few issues then I think I’d play this over Destiny.

ninerguy16082664d ago

Your taste in video games does not line up with others lol. I mean you said you like it. Got downvotes. Kids.

Slappy McGee2664d ago (Edited 2664d ago )

When it worked it was fun playing with friends. They need some serious server work though.

If it had been a single player Bioware game with co-op tacked on it would have been a lot better.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio13d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing13d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9213d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit13d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing13d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9213d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
