if not half the trophies were multiplayer based i would have bought. what a missed chance here to make some big bucks. after two weeks their servers will be empty. if they chose to make this a real solo experience they would have reeked in much more revenue. but yeah, blinded by copy protection (the reason for the online craze) their great game will go down in flames *shrugs*

Great month, sub nautica not really my thing but i can see why others like it, ace combat and undisputed look good as does the indie surprise ultros

Puty92d ago

Undisputed somehow went backwards compared to Fight Night Champion from 2011. Such a massive letdown.

isarai_lee91d ago

I was following the game pretty closely pre-release, but as tome went on it really wasn't even reaching Fight Night Round 2 levels of gameplay mechanics and physics, so disappointed 😔

Typical bad PS Essential month.

Eonjay91d ago

This is a good month two me. I got two games on there on my wishlist. I suppost 'good' is completely subjective. What would be a good month for you?

Jammali91d ago

Does ps plus always do 4 games?

BISHOP-BRASIL88d ago

No it has been usually 3 for a time now, but they are dropping PS4 only games in 2026, I believe when they announced it was specifically said January 2026 was supposed to be the last time, but no PS4 only games were given last month and given Ace Combat 7 in indeed a PS4 only game (PS5 runs it, but entirely emulated as a PS4 game), I guess they have added it as 4th in February to bid last gen farewell and not break the trust of those expecting to get 3 PS5 or at least multigenerational games per month.

Officially (as per their announcement last year) games with PS4 and PS5 versions will still come to the service normally and when they do they'll still be playable on PS4, but going forward games with no PS5 versions will not be added to either the Essential tier monthly games or the Extra tier catalog. Speculation is they may still release PS4 only games but now on the Premium/Deluxe tier "classics catalog" only, which have been very lacking in the last couple years... So with this one move they could do two things: 1st push PS4 holdouts to migrate into next (current) gen already and, 2nd, boost the Classics Catalog perceived value by adding games that don't need a cent spent into porting it over, hopefully making that tier more sought after and even more profitable.

Outstanding month, i love essentials because you keep the game forever as long as you are a plus customer.

FPSRUSSIA91d ago

even if you cancel you still keep them and when you Sub again you can play them again .

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Has Sold 7 Million Units

Bandai Namco announced today that its popular flight simulator-lite Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown has passed another sales milestone.

Abnor_Mal103d ago (Edited 103d ago )

Great game, and deserves all its sales. Ace Combat has always been a great series. I should replay AC7 again for the fourth time.

It’s unfortunate that Ace Combat8 won’t have vr, as the devs felt it would be too much work and they would be essentially making two games.

Would love a release of Ace Combat6 on PlayStation, but I’d be fine with Ace3,4&5 remasters for PS5 with updated tightened controls.

Ozzy2407103d ago

Wish Ace Combat 8 was coming to PSVR2 or even make Ace 7 full VR

1nsomniac103d ago (Edited 103d ago )

Good game. I've bought it on PS5 and PC (both in heavy sales). Haven't managed to get past mission 6 I think on either lol. I soo want to buy it for my Switch 2 as well just because I think it would be nice to play in handheld but I cant justify buying it a 3rd time

StoneTitan103d ago (Edited 103d ago )

Yeah sounds like a good idea not to buy it again ^^
Then again. Supporting the studio is also nice :)

Abnor_Mal103d ago

I wouldn’t buy it a third time, honestly you did more than your part by purchasing it twice. The problem is they on both PS5 and PC you haven’t gotten pass mission six, why spend more money on the game again just to get to mission six and hit a wall again. Play the versions you have conquer mission six, then if you still feel like you want the switch version then maybe, but by that time Ace Combat8 may be released already and you’ll want to play that.

That controller looks like a cheap knockoff... it should have been a proper DS5 design.

darthv72303d ago

...the VR aspect in 7 IS the redeeming quality.

Abriael303d ago (Edited 303d ago )

what a dumb take.

Ace Combat 7 is one of the best games of the past generation. It doesn't need VR gimmicks to "redeem" it.

TheColbertinator303d ago

I have enjoyed nearly every single Ace Combat to death (except that helicopter shooting one) and have never needed VR once to enjoy it greatly

PapaBop303d ago

^^^ I'm guessing you've never actually tried it in VR then? VR elevates games like this way beyond just a gimmick, just ask any GT fan who owns a PSVR 2. You may not need VR to have a good time but it's an absolute game changer and something that shouldn't be dismissed as a gimmick.

S2Killinit303d ago (Edited 303d ago )

@Abriael
Spoken like someone who never played it. But who are we kidding. We know why VR hate. No one is fooled here.

Abriael303d ago (Edited 303d ago )

@PapaBop: I tried it in VR before any of you ever did, since the game wasn't even out yet. It's a gimmick, disjointed from the AC7's main gameplay and far removed from its best parts.

It's nothing more than a limiting factor, as Ace Combat's most complex missions require hardware power to be focused on other things. That's why the VR missions are very basic.

If you think Ace Combat's strengths are even close to the platform it's on, VR or non-VR, you obviously aren't an Ace Combat fan.

In any case, I suggest you folks prepare yourself for disappointment. There's a reason why the VR gimmick was never expanded, and it's that, besides a few fanatics who care for evangelizing their VR fad more than they care for the franchise, no one gave a flying F.

The developers are going to use the resources to make the whole game better for everyone instead.

VR was the best thing that happened to Ace Combat. You kidding?

yeastori303d ago

VR is perfect for this type of game wdym

Abriael303d ago

It's a perfect way to limit this type of game.

CrimsonWing69303d ago

Look, I’m a simple man. I see Ace Combat and say, “Yes!”

Abnor_Mal303d ago (Edited 303d ago )

Can we get a new Ace Combat, with full vr and not just three or four levels, for PS5 and PSVR2
Also if we could get a remake of my all time favorite, Ace Combat5: The Unsung War, again with full vr for every mission with DualSense and flight stick haptics.

yeastori303d ago

I just want them to remaster AC4 and AC5, a new AC with better more realistic looking world and planes would be great too
