Resistance Fall Of Man was not graphically Bad, it had some good textures on weapons and areas of importance and the Art style is actually very appealing to many people. As a launch title it has very good graphics and Resistance 2 (judging on the beta) is not that much of a jump. Especially the water!!! the water on the Orick level looks appalling. and it reacts like jelly !!

They really unleashed the dragon with R2.

They really used the space on blu-ray to make it much bigger and better so kudos to insomniac. Oh and it's funny how you are almost dead the entire time in the resistance 1 parts:)

and Resistance 1 wasn't bad either. the color pallet was just amazing and the game looks completely different. R2 pwns... cant wait for november 11ths for me, stupid under way schedule.. sigh!!

Insomniac is simply amazing. They are dedicated to their work and strives to put out the best game they can make.

Only difference is they added more colour graphics are the same.

Gears 2 can not compare because it is a third person shooter with only 5 enemies on the screen at one time...There are 30+ in R2...no other console game is doing this.

Wait till you actually play R2 to make your judgements... R2 rules...and is the best first person shooter on the market...even better than COD4....and we all know COD4 killed Halo 3.

Resistance 2 is a HUGE leap from the first Resistance and the difference is like night and day.

I'm sure that the first Resistance could have looked better visually if Insomniac had more time, but overrall I think that it was a pretty good launch title on the Playstation 3. Plus, I'm sure Insomniac was under some pressure to have the game finished for the PS3's launch.

Insomniac developed the first Resistance in just 2 years and that's pretty impressive for a brand new IP on a system as complex as the PS3. Kudos to Insomniac.

Resistance 2 looks awesome and I cant wait to play it.

Night and day, texture quality and resolution a lot better and the lighting and color are really amazing.

The new camera in the cutscenes looks very nice.

Great improvement. Why are you comparing this to gears? That is like comparing a small table tennis game to a football match! The scale and amount of stuff happening in R2 blows Gears out of the water...specially online and co op.

You can't appretiate Resistance 2 in closed environments because it's meant to show Scope, not detail. Gears 2 on the other hand is meant to show detail, but it lacks scope. That's why it's mostly closed corridors and nothing is really open. I don't feel they showed the best of Resistance 2 in this video anyway, where is the Giant Monster? Where are the different enemies? Titans look much better in the latest installment and so do the chimera.

For both detail and scope, look at killzone. I still think Resistance beats both gears and killzone in terms of gameplay. 8 player Co-op is the most fun experience I've ever had with an FPS.

Not only in terms of graphics, in terms of features this game truly excels R1. R1 was a great game considering it was a launch title and compared to COD2, and PDZ it was amazing. This is proper Resistance 2.0

can see the bias on these boards by this story alone. The fact that R1 didn't and still doesn't compete in the graphics category with anything that came out on the 360 at the same time, that the sequel looks amazing. But with GOW and GOW2, the fact that they don't look that different at first, even though GOW2 looks far better than GOW, the Sony fanboys try like hell to validate only owning just the PS3. It is really amazing. You won't believe me, but I really do own the PS3 and 360, and they are both great, but to think that the PS3 is doing anything the 360 can't is retarded.

but i got rid of it in anticipation of Resistance 2; which the game store across the street may get it tomorrow, i don't have the cash, but maybe i can get rid of some games *i'm looking at you Fable 2... you're fun, but i'm addicted to the R2 Beta, and i KNOW the full release will be even better...*

Resistance 2 is most certainly, undeniably a step up above it's predecessor:

1) Graphics - Check
2) Improved enemy and Allie AI - Check
3) Story - so far, it looks like a big fat Check
4) Online - new community features, 8 player co-op, class system, XP system, 60 player online matches - Check, Check, Check, Check, and Check

"Bigger, Better, and more Badass?" i think Resistance 2 hits all of those, and still leaves room for "and even more Epic" to be included.

It's a great game, sometimes i couldn't tell when the cutscenes were over..I think if you haven't played then stfu ..i didn't really like the multiplayer but the campaign was great and co-op was really good...I enjoyed it more than gears but I enjoyed gears multiplayer more...I wish all you stupid fanboys would just grow and discuss games in general and not put down games just because of reviews or someone's elses opinion, play the game yourself and then decide what the game offered you....

r1 is better looking than some games today play it for yourself. I thought that too but the graphics are great for a launch game IMO but that video did not do the game justice. Ice was R1. R2 looks like its fire.

Resistance 2 tried to go the Halo route with the large intergalatic space sh!t and what not. For a game that take place in 50's it sure does look way too futuristic in the backgrounds. Ok so now sony owners have a intergalatic shooter just like xbox owners. Last i checked was'nt Xbox all about FPS? Seems Sony will have no other choice but to push this game.

I know the first was 720p but does anyone know if part 2 supports higher res? My tv does 1080i not 720p so pretty much most ps3 games drop to 480p on my tv.

Resistance 2 looks amazing, I'm just pissed on how the bullseye does not work the same as R1, you cannot tag then go behind cover and just shoot, that was why the game was so much fun!

What a game! Day one pick up for this one. Whats disturbing is that the MP looks like it could rival CoD4.

damn big improvement, I truly forgot how ugly and textureless the first resistance looked. those buses, wow they were just like a box with wheels and no textures whatsoever. R2 looks pretty good though.

Show me one video on Gears 2 where there are tons of enemies (and I mean A LOT).

This comparison was great! Res2 isnt really all that. The colors are improved, and the lighting is REALLY improved. But textures are still flat, dull, and under-detailed. The modeling and graphics are the same. The game seems to flow smoother, but the movement speed is just ramped up slightly. Im not saying its a bad game, but anyone who thinks this game looks better than GEARS OF WAR 1, is a dumb@$$. Even the environments had more detail in Gears1. And Gears2 is leaps and bounds ahead of this game. I'm not expecting any Sony fanboys to agree, but they dont have to, they know the truth---and it will prolly coax them into getting a 360 this xmas.

@aiphanes no it didn't because halo 3 still thrives at the top of xbl top 10 most played and will clearly outlive it due cod5(great game btw).But anyway, r2 looks noticeably sharper, larger in scope and much better lighting.Looks great.

Resistance 3 was such a FREAKING good game. It was a shame that the market was flooded with quality stuff at that time, because I'm pretty sure it was overlooked by MANY (plus, I was in gaming retail at the time, so I KNOW it was overlooked by many).

I only played 1 and 2. I preferred 2. I thought the campaign was great, although it did have too much influence from COD. The online was a lot of fun, especially the 8-player coop campaign.

That series deserves a remaster collection, as does Warhawk.

Tough choice here. I only played the 3 main titles but I loved them all very much and for different reason. I definitely played 1 more than the other ones, but that was because early PS3 life cycle there wasn't much else I was interested in besides MotorStorm.

2 had the really interesting, ahead of its time co-op (if it had been on 360 it would be constantly talked about still, but games journalists really didn't acknowledge multiplayer games on PS3 and really only acknowledged single player games from Naughty Dog). But the campaign in 2 was just bad. It clearly suffered from trying to be more like the games coming out around it (mostly COD) rather than embracing the spirit of more classic FPS games like 1 and 3 did so well.

4. Resistance: Burning Skies (good Vita shooter actually)

All good games but Resistance 3 has the best weapons, the most polish, 3D TV support, and a great ending to the series.

Fall of Man still holds a special place in my heart, but 2 and 3 were still very good. I miss those games.

Great trilogy. Loved the second game the most with its colorful graphics and the setting. Wish Insomniac would either make a trilogy remaster for PS5 or a new game in the series.

R:Fom, R2, then the its not even a sequel so I don't know why its called R3...

Are people saying R3 CoD fans? Cuz mp completely abandoned its roots, it was a terrible CoD wannabe.. Story was an abomination as well, stupid ending too....

R2 story was great, loved the live action stuff pre release. gameplay for it was a complete step back, the first one I felt like I was a part of the war, R2 you may as well have not had allies cuz every enemy was only focused on you. AMAZING ahead of its time Coop saved this game. MP was kinda meh, also a step backwards, gameplay changes for it were handled poorly.

R:FOM had some unpolished unfinished rough edges. You could definitely tell it was rushed. But story premise was freaking amazing, and playing with a buddy and stuff going on all over the place, I really felt a part of a war. Best MP in the series hands down, really inventive and different from everything else out there at that time and really to this day honestly.

I would love to have a new entry in this series!

I loved this game.

Resistance 2 was the best complete package for a shooter, along with Modern Warfare 2. Even though some people disliked the single player, as an action game I'd say it was better than any of the Call of Duty campaigns, which used to be pretty great.

Resistance: Fall of Man was one of my first online gaming experiences and one of my favourites, 40 players on the Manchester Cathedral map was so much fun. I would love this series to come back, even if it was a collection it deserves more than being stranded on PS3.

I loved the resistance games and it would probably be a factor in getting me to go search for a ps5 if they ever made a sequel

Resistance was the reason i bought a PS3. I wish they didn't end it early in 3. From what i understand they were supposed to keep it going and we would have gotten to see the chimera planet and the pure chimera but Insomniac said they got bored of making the same type of game so they gave it the ending in 3 so they could move on.

Remakes, Remasters, Reboot, sequels.....I’ll take anything, just anything they wanna throw at us fans of the series. Too good a franchise to lie dormant while the technical enhancements of the PS5 are ripe and ready to make our eyes bleed, with an in-house Insomniac pushing the boundaries.
