This is a VR game made by Mojang/Microsoft...so when you make a statement about "jumping on a bandwagon" just know, Microsoft is already on that wagon. The do both VR and AR.

The point to this pointlessness is that where Sony announcements are relatively simple and direct, MS hypes up "Game Changers!" that are more about potential than actual product. Further, they leave room for speculation, dial it back when it gets too far out, and ultimately under deliver regulating the remains to some corner. We saw that with Kinect and with cloud distribution, now its VR/AR. A market they've held their nose up as far as consoles are concerned despite the XBX being more powerful than the original PS4, but now that PSVR's seemingly saved VR, MS's finally going to get into it - with console - as well while still promising to do it better.

Or at least that's what this rumor suggests. This speculation from their fan camp. You and others who only insists that MS will dominate despite repeatedly living up to their own hype, which you not only defend but build up in blind denial.

^This too. Telltale doesn't own anything they've produced in recent years as it has all been licensed stuff. I'd love it if Monkey Island and Sam and Max could survive, but they may as well have been dead anyways given that Telltale changed their focus years back.

What's all this nonsense about a second team? All these studios need is one team to produce something. A second team would let them tackle more projects, but these studios clearly don't even have a first team working on something. Expansion is something to do when they're already operating on all cylinders, but they're clearly not even doing that.

You're right about MS not having much history with creating big franchises, but that's their own bloody fault.
Sure, they can buy all the studios they want, but if they just get used for one game before their staff are laid off that's not much good. Sony can buy up studios too, but they don't go on big buying sprees because they actually do use the ones they have, and if they do buy a studio you can bet it would get some use. If MS used their studios too, they would be bringing the competition right now and may have been in the running for first place instead of hoping to hold onto second place with Nintendo rapidly closing in on them. The whole point of buying a studio and not just an IP is for there to be more exclusive IPs in the future. MS clearly doesn't get that though, so they have to repeatedly open their wallets, and time will tell how far that gets them.

Their current studios are already producing games. Not sure how many studios you think MS had before, but most of them aren't full fledged studios. A lot of MS content they've release has actually been contracted out to 3rd party studios.

I assumed you were talking about MS establishing 2nd teams within those studios, because there is nothing that would increase their game output, if they just moved those studios onto other projects.

The rest of your reply seems to imply you think I'm defending MS here. I'm not really. It is MS fault for not creating more. I was just pointing out that there may not be the right people in MS as a whole that are capable of creating, or starting the development of such games. This is backed up by the fact that they haven't done much of that, and all of their current big franchises are the brain child of other people or companies. Rare has some new stuff they came up with, but that's the only in house studio which has produced significant IP's for MS.

So you're trying to tell me that every little move Microsoft makes isn't magnified to be something grand and trend setting? 🙄

Maybe you're right and I should pick and choose when I say the things that I say, but it doesn't change the fact that Microsoft is the dude photo bombing the game industry wedding at any chance it gets. Sony/Nintendo /3rd party are killing it and for some reason we have to give equal attention to Microsoft for reasons I'll never know. I wish they would give Microsoft the attention it deserves (none) and when they add something to the industry we can shine the light brightly on their accomplishments...

timotim: That's not fabrication. MS has clearly paid off the games media to play up everything they do and downplay everything the competition does. They've been more bark than bite this gen. I do hope for their sake these new studios will give them some more bite, but they'll need to do the opposite of their track record. Skippy Paccino: I don't think they're deserving of zero attention, as they have done some stuff and continue to do stuff, but they definitely don't deserve equal attention given how little they've contributed to the industry in comparison to their competitors.

And a lot of good has come from Microsoft this gen...I didn't say a lot of games, I said a lot of good. GamePass, Play Anywhere, digital returns, external HDD support, free sync on a console, Dolby Atmos on a console, Dolby Vision on a console, FH4 haha, cross-play support, only console with 4K Blu Ray, Microsoft/Xbox Rewards. You trying to make it seem as if its Sony and Nintendo only is silly.
