The best part is 320Gb goes for 50-60 quite often if you go on slickdeals a lot. Harddrive only gets cheaper for the PS3.

...yeah and with the whole 10 year plan, the sdd's should be good to go for the ps3. The improvements we see now will also increase while the prices decrease.

I can definitely agree with that.. Its a good thing that 360 games don't have mandatory installs like the PS3 does.. So unless you want to do the OPTIONAL install of your games on your hardrive store a bunch of demos/videos/music then a 20gb harddrive should be enough.

All I said was how the PS3 has mandatory installs.. How are the great games going to retract my statement when that statement is true and we'll stay that way untill faster Blu Ray drives are put in the PS3.

Wrong, Jay. 360 installs will remain optional until such time as all 360s have HDD's standard. Then devs will be able to and will use the HDD, for mandatory installs.

Actually I disagree on the xbox installs. I think that MS is movign towards Hard Drove installs by offering full disc installs to a hard drive. This is a move to test the waters and to soften the blow when you HAVE to do a portion of your disc. It may or may not happen, but I can see MS very easily moving to that system.

As for the rebuttle I know is going to come out of this post, I know people seem to have this idea that MS just wouldn't abandon gamers that don't have hard drives especially since they allowed it to happen. I say to you, tell that to the last xbox supporters before the 360 that bought a virtually worthless console that lose support rather quickly. Also tell the folks that got a RROD prior to MS's admittance of fault and were told to pay up or buy a new console. MS has a history of leaving consumers in the dust, and while they aren't the only one (I'm looking at you too SONY), it wouldn't shock me in the least for them to enforce a hard drive install (At least 1 360 game already requires a hard drive and Soul Calibur 4 was rumored to be the second...I think MS forced Namco to fix that issue before release).

I know it too because I am on my 4th one it has suffered one RROD so far. I hate to keep bringing that up but it has no next gen movie player, came with a 20GB HDD of which over 8GB were reserved by the system, and all of the the dead ones along with the DRM issues have cost me quite a bit of money that was never reimbursed. Real media storage doesn't exist on that MS box (120GB for an arm and a leg? Please.) No Wifi? Please. There are a host of other issues that some of us see yet MS has been able to successfully hide from you.

Sorry, that MS deal isn't a bargain at all. Throw in 4 years of Live and kiss that 199 price tag goodbye. You see like Sony, PS3 owners are planners and think long term. And if you say you are buying anything but a Wii and MP isn't important to you then you are living under a rock.

.................i have a wii and it costs $249.99 which is more than a 360 and it comes with no HDD, and it's.....well a lot slower than a 360 and it comes with a DVD drive as well............plus no bioshock.

so if you don't SEE 360 as a better deal then you are blind. (that wasn't an insult to you it was for everyone :)

and BTW why do you need 4 years of live, no one is putting a gun to your head to go for it, and plus.........bioshock doesn't need it.

Ive had 1 PS3 never had an issue... 360 had to be replaced twice before I got one that did not scratch discs. consequently I buy very few games for it due to not wanting to invest to much into something that might break again.

I am not going to upgrade my 360's HDD for outrageous prices when its been sent in a coffin 2x already. My 20 GB 360 has been full for awhile now. My 60 GB PS3 is getting pretty full too lately I will upgrade to 320 GB one of these days.

Anyone who has not played Warhawk w/ all 3 expansions is truely missing out too btw truely a kick arse underrated game and your not made to pay 2 play online but I digress.

that's an opinion, and it would be stupid of me to say the exact same thing as a 360 gamer. frankly i like chocolate more strawberry........you can come up with a list of flavors none of them can compare to chocolate (opinion)

Guns you missed the point. You used the first excuse just about any 360 fan uses when the cost of Live comes up. Having a 360 and not connecting it for Multiplayer is like owning half a console. It's like buying a console with no HDD...Oooops, too late for that.

Thats true and I did say IMO(In my opinion). Games are also more complex then flavors though.

No 360 game does what R2 does for instance...You can't find a game that rivals Uncharted on 360 either , Tomb Raider underworld Demo made that very clear to me today... My goodness that game technically and graphically is far short of Uncharted. Its still does some cool things and is aight for being another tomb raider. Lara's Character Model was impressive though her textures where not.

Warhawk (PSN Downloadable game) nothing ive played on 360 can do what warhawk does..theres a game that comes close in theory but not really....Im not saying 360 does not have games that PS3 does not that are good. Im just saying thus far and I doubt ever will I see a 360 game that can't be done better on PS3 sounds biased but its just honest. Not only that PS3 has mod support , LBP all this type of user generated stuff on a free online service.

To MS credit XNA is bad as5 but the way its handled you got to pay grips to see the fruits of XNA. It just seems like MS buisness model is jacking its own customers and limiting devs to what there allowed to do. The audacity that they have to do this after selling faulty product stuns me.

Splitting components up to give the illusion of low price is what I see from this. Some like the option to play just offline though and that justify's it I guess. It just screams Hustle.

(360's HDD's remind me of someone selling an expensive bottled water.)

$399 PS3/PSN Play4Life -you don't have an option to break your hdd away and just pay for a cheaper sku without one. However when you run out of space getting a larger HDD is going to be cheap and that HDD will be as quality and large as you want it to be.

I rather get a Nintendo DS then upgrade my 360's HDD at this price for an HDD thats only 40 GB larger. So many things I would rather do. I would not recommend anyone to upgrade @ that price, or pay for music videos, tv programs,themes, pics, movies on XBL to clog up there gaming machine either.

I agree with you, it should at least be at the $60 range price point given that you have 120GB that is about that cost but with no 3-Months of Live and other extras. Than again, it added the 3-Month Live service which may have counted to it being $20 dollars more. That would 70 something for the stand-alone HDD. Ethernet cable, and Headset are really just pennies that's why I didn't add it.

uxo22, Yeah I still have room on my 80GB PS3 after that install MGS4 made me do when I got it. But then again, I don't load my system with countless music, pictures, other stuff. It's not my thing.

Some of us gamers have more than 1 console and thus "need to care" about the price of this hard drive. I've had my 360 since launch and my PS3 not far from it's launch. I still have room on both console hard drives, bt if I were to run out of room faster it would be on PS3. Eventually my 360 will be out too and by then, I hope the price of these drives drop.

That being said, I have no intention of upgrading my 360 drive due to teh replacement of material I've purchased and DRM rules. When my console RROD, I got my replacement back fairly quick, but it took almost 2 months to get all my XBLA stuff back to functional status (I don't use LIVE so I couldn't play the games online which would have made it easier).

Someone said that not using LIVE is not having a half system and I somewhat agree. In terms of issues I just highlighted with DLC and DRM, it's like having less than half. But I'm happy with the games I do play on 360 and I just know that with some of them, I may only play "half" a game. I just have to be willing to pay the full price for that or buy used.
