Project CARS dev working on their own VR supporting console

Project CARS developer Slightly Mad Studios are currently developing their own console entitled the "Mad Box" as revealed by CEO Ian Bell via a tweet.

LMAO... So let me get this straight, the guys who couldn't make Project Cars 2 run right on PS4 are now going to make an entire console, and they expect it to actually be good... LoL

These guys couldn't code for shit and now they think they can make a good console, it's like the time when Go Pro the people who make camera's said we are now going to start making Drones, what do we know about making drones, absolutely nothing...? Great idea right? I mean drones are hot right now... Can't wait to see how this turns out...

Oh yeah that's right, you don't have to wait it failed beyond belief, stock fell off a cliff, sales power-dived off a cliff company almost went under... LoL (But I'm sure these guys who had trouble getting the game to run right on PS4 can now somehow make a console) What are the chances it's a complete fail.... I would say 98% chance... LOL

Congrats on the bankruptcy I guess? - best comment I saw on the page..

This is the dumbest idea ever, how much you want to bet it's an Xbox Clone with PC parts... LoL (Just wait for the price, that's when this joke gets really good)...

Jesus. Calm down. Just give them a chance, how is this even a bad thing for us?

Truer words have never been spoken.

Who pissed in your cereal this morning? I agree with you, on an extent, but its their neck the're risking here not yours. I'm super curious to see what they are up to.

rainslacker2691d ago

I don't really get it. Vr is still kind of a niche market. Project cars is only a marginally successful franchise. Who would pay for a niche vr console from a modestly successful company which isn't known for such things. Is it for commercial application? Then why bother with a console when a pc is fine...and actual vr simulators already exist? Heck, there has been a commercial application of gran turismo since gt3. Requires a pretty beefy computer and completely closed in movable box, but it's there and used to train drivers.

Sooo we are going to ignore updating project cars 2 and make a VR system. LMAO

Rude-ro2691d ago

It will support vr, not be the focus.

demonicale2691d ago

Why not, maybe they will make something better than what is coming out in the future ... who's to say?.

Ju2691d ago

Unlikely. But, sure. Let them do it.

FyBy2691d ago

What? Will it be compatible with something? I assume, there will be Project Cars starting title. Anything else? One way it can make some sales is if it costs 300 USD, have stellar performance in PC2 (3 in future) and can be bought as a bundle with wheel and pedals. Then other possible games can be as a bonus, but primarily it can serve as ultimate car sim console. If it may "fight" against MS and Sony, it has no chance.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing17d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9217d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit17d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing17d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9217d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
