Nor for the foreseeable future, it will always be just an alternative option or addition.

The latency issues is simply not there yet. Maybe a decade from now..

Well considering you can already play fortnite at 60 FPS on an iPhone in 2018, in ten years the idea of streaming makes absolutely no sense at all. Why run games server side at all?

StrengthInNumbers2696d ago (Edited 2696d ago )

It was never designed to replace traditional games. It was always meant to be another option. People just get insecure as soon as something new is introduced. Especially the old heads.

Old heads? Does this look like a hip hop discussion to you?

Streaming is not new either, so maybe you new heads should do some research.

lol no one said streaming was new.

In my area there's still large portions with only access to satellite internet, slow speeds for high prices and data caps. And the areas here that can get broadband, comcast is the only provider.
I dont ever see in my lifetime, streaming being the only option.
There will always be a need for disc based consoles.
Otherwise they would cut out a massive portion of population being able to play.

'I dont ever see in my lifetime, streaming being the only option. '

Really? In your lifetime? The internet has exploded in the last 10 years, but you don't see it in your lifetime?

How old are you, 85?

Don't get me wrong, I love a physical disc, but it's becoming obselete as the years go. You still have to download the patches, in time it will be the same as a pc game at retail, just the data to tell the server to download the rest of the data. Physical will go the way of the dinosaur. It's hard to accept but that is the way it's going.

Unless you plan to die within the next 20 years, it's the way it's going to go.

Eventually all games will be streamed.

Nyxus2696d ago

Not as long as there is demand for physical.

bluefox7552696d ago

You can still buy vinyl records. As long as there is a demand, there will be a market for physical. He's right.

notachance2695d ago

I think you're confusing streaming and digital here...

30fps sucks. Especially on an OLED.
