There are questions about the way Blizzard, which has traditionally operated separate to Activision, has become more intertwined with its corporate overlord in recent times.

"It stinks!"

And unfortunately, "it", seeing stockholders as the consumer base rather than gamers, taking the original consumer base for granted while targeting whales mobile games and amoral policies, is either the new or current business model among a growing majority of the industry. At least the likes of Activision EA and Ubisoft.

Though I have to put Square as well as MS on that list too.

And yes, got a spot for Sony reserved, its just that with the likes of Spiderman and the likes of UC and Lost Horizon they're still more interested in entertaining than trying to take all the monies.

wraith99992751d ago

really gonna ignore GoW on that list for sony?

Parasyte2751d ago

Doesn’t surprise me. I think Blizzard, Bungie, and all of the CoD studios maybe starting to get concerned, especially after the shareholders weren’t happy with BO4 even though it made almost $1 Billion!

kevnb2751d ago

Please someone save blizzard, valve seems like a good fit :).

Fist4achin2751d ago

I doubt valve would jump on it, but i could see MS making a move. Valve just likes to rest its laurels on running steam. Not sure what they have developed in the past few years.

bigmalky2751d ago (Edited 2751d ago )

Why would you want to go to another company with the exact same plans for gaming?

Microsoft are playing the waiting game when the AAA publisher push all digital, microtransaction games as a service.

They're turning the pastime into mobile gaming ffs. Blind as a bat.

Fist4achin2751d ago

@bigmalky

Its not that i would want them to buy blizzard. Im just going off of the current lamdscape, recent transactions/acquisitions, and companies throwing around money. Plus MS is huge with online MP type games. Their plans for gaming seem to align with one another.

Trust me. I am not a fan of the directions gaming has gone, but im just a small fish in a big pond.

Godmars2902751d ago

Valve's too busy running Steam to buy studios to make games directly under them much less make their own.

kevnb2750d ago (Edited 2750d ago )

Valve would just buy them and let them do what they want, if they bought them. Valve is also a private company still, no shareholder meddling.

blacktiger2751d ago

Are you insane, no one can afford to but blizzard at the moment. Way too big.

kevnb2750d ago

Lots of companies could actually, it’s just a matter of if they want to make such a big purchase.

I knew this was going to happen,

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio37d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing37d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9237d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit37d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing37d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9237d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
