Cloud gaming is the future, and it's up to indie devs to prove that

TIGW writes: "Cloud gaming will fundamentally change the way the video game industry operates, and at the moment only the indies can lead the charge."

*Cloud gaming is the future*

Translation: Death of used games, no trading, no lending, 24 check ins, no physical ownership and higher prices for physically nothing. With no playing if the internet goes out and latency when there's too much traffic.

Like Chris, I'll stick with having physical with the option of digital.

No gaming when internet is down too. Sounds like a blast....especially since gaming is typically what I do when there are extended internet outages. What else am I going to do if I can't stream TV or movies from Netflix? Read a book or something? That's crazy thinking there.

Oh well. Can't wait for the net neutrality repeal to finally start showing its ugly face so people realize that the future isn't quite as bright as all these digital proponents think it will be.

Also, pretty funny that indies will prove the digital future. While I have a great respect for indies, the term generally means less than AAA. While I do like less than AAA quite a lot sometimes, there is just something special about those AAA games, and those are the ones that we tend to get most excited about. I'm not going to spend a full purchase price just to stream them, and I doubt we'll see a lot of them on a yearly sub through various services. I like to pick and choose my content, not be stuck in a bunch of different sub services.

most indies can't prove that they can even do something that isn't another 2D pixel art platformers, indie devs play it too safe to take charge in anything. Also cloud gaming isn't the future so can you people give it a rest? no amount of articles like these will convince gamers to fully give up physical games, or downloads.

Most yes but you gotta admit we need indies more than ever. Big companies invest too much to experiment.
