PSP 3000 Pulled from PlayStation Site, Silent Recall Imminent?

Almost every single mention of the PSP-3000 has been removed from the official PlayStation EU site's PSP section.

True enough, when you go to the website and check out the "Hardware" section of the PSP, there's no whiff nor word about the PSP Brite.

Meanwhile, doing a keyword search on the EU site for "PSP-3000" now only gives you a handful of hits: one from an October 15 news item, and the rest being LGC 2008 press material from August. Why is that?

These discoveries were made following all those recent reports about the PSP-3000 interlacing issues features that people have been complaining about. (Read More)

Those new LCD of the 3000 ain't that good looking after all (Interlacing issues). I hope they can fix it, I'm in need of a new PSP since I gave my 2000 to my sis. heh..

At the same time though I wonder if I should upgrade? It seems that the PSP-1000 is still the best version of the 3

SONY is supposed to make quality display devices, yet somehow they managed to screw up their flagship (read: ONLY) handheld device with the best looking display on the market. I can't believe that they would let this problem slip by their QA department. I guess they were just so eager to let yet ANOTHER PSP with minimal upgrades that nobody really cares about out to market, in hopes that it's so near the holiday season that people would buy it without noticing its flaws.

Here's hoping for a PSP with 802.11 G (the current PSP wireless is SLOW), a better browser, dual analog sticks (face it, aiming in FPS games with the face buttons is DUMB), and flash-based games (the UMD format needs to end the "fight" and just die off peacefully).

I like my PSP-2000 (PSP SLIM), but I think Sony needs to actually REVAMP the hardware, instead of releasing such minor updates in the disguise of a revolution in portable hardware innovation.

I think sony is taking the 10year approach to the psp as well. They have done basically the same thing they did to the psx and the ps2 by making it slimmer and aesthetic redesign.
dont feel sorry for people who bought the 3000. Most people seem just fine with their purchase. Its a small noisy few who are possibly blowing the scanlines problem out of proportion.
As far as your other issues go. 802.11g would be fantastic, maybe their is a cost factor that keeps them from implementing it just yet. a second analog stick is too drastic of a change. Its not the lack of an analog stick that is the problem, its developers forcing a game onto a handheld that isnt set up for that style. FPS dont go over well on the psp and its ridiculous for devs to keep putting thsoe games out. Look at the ds, it has fewer buttons, no analogs, and a touch screen. So devs make games that work best for those conditions. Finally sony has already started the "flash based games" with its psn access for the psp.

too bad a recall couldn't fix PS3's lack of games...

Danja6427d ago

sure cuz we're still in early 2007 ...times have changed dude you need to find something new also....ur comment F-A-I-L-E-D..!!

BTW to show how much M$ cares for it's consumers even almost 3 years after the 360 is relased it's still selling you guys faulty hardware......

so it's better to have a lack of games with on a syatem that will actually still be alive by the time the gaming drought ends...than to have one that dies a few months after purchase ...^_^

thereapersson6427d ago

Last time I checked, the PS3 had every multiplatform game that the 360 has, plus exclusive games that look better than most games that the 360 has.

Keep telling yourself that multiplats are exclusive to the 360, and thus a telltale sign of a console's power. That's really the only argument that you can go off of.

Guys, the guy is a troll. He says stupid things to get attention. Disagree, ignore, move on.

sinncross6427d ago

You guys do know that countless people who have used the psp-300 have stated that the scanline problem has been vastly overblown...
even seeing screenshots of ppl using the psp-3000 shows that the scanlines arent that noticeable, and that the lack of blurring and ghosting makes for the little scanline effects.

While obviously it would be better not to have it as a problem, current psp-3000 users aren't that bad off....

jlytle12346427d ago

i think thats why its a silent recall. most people seem to be satisfied with the psp-3000, so why plant the seed that its "broken" if you dont feel that way. However i bet they will roll out scanline free psp3000 just to keep the "broken" idea from spreading.
