I loved Bioshock 2 better than the original too

lxeasy2644d ago

wtf is blood borne on the picture to advertise this. Bloodborne isn't a sequel and there hasn't been a sequel to a blood borne game yet either...

I enjoyed ES IV more than Skyrim. The storytelling was way better across all the guilds, which was my favorite part of the game. Skyrim had the better gameplay mechanics, but I'll take a good story over mechanics any day (unless the game is literally broken). Also, same with Bioshock, loved the ability to play as a Big Daddy in 2, especially fully upgraded, but 1 had a better story with a more memorable punch. Decent list though.

The author doesn’t actually critically or analytically explain why said sequels are better than there successors.

I personally self-debate whether Half-Life 2 is actually better than Half-Life for its time. The original half-life has better enemies,is more challenging, and was arguably more innovative for its time than Half-Life 2.

Worse, they blatantly misrepresent things, Dismissing Fallout 1 and 2 as if they're simple point and click strategy games as if they don't (still) have some of the best world building and story telling in gaming period, while praising Fallout 3 (of all games) for being "hugely immersive" when it's only immersive if you're blind to the fact that it has the weakest world building and story in the whole series by a *huge* margin.

How do people eat in megaton? There's no farms, and no way they've scaveneged from a supermarket for 200 years. Why didn't they build on the river instead of in the middle of nowhere and force themselves to rely on that groundwater pump? How do they keep getting ammo to ward off raider attacks? Why are your "moral" choices regarding the fate of it confined exclusively to "didn't do anything, is a cartoon supervillian who blew it up, and saved it like a hero" with 0 grey area or difficult trade offs to consider in terms of what's actually best for the people there?

Bioshock 2 is better than 1 ? hmmmm

rainslacker2644d ago

In many ways yes. But I did like the story better in B1....although it kind of fizzled at the end. B2 finished stronger, and was more emotional.

Would be nice if they had New Vegas ready as well, especially because of the show.

Hopefully this doesn't have the same performance issues as Oblivion Remastered.

cloganart7d ago

I haven't seen anything on these performance issues? What's been going on?

walken77d ago

Probably the Unreal Engine issues, I skipped it for that reason.

Throw in all the DLC as well, like Oblivion and I'll definitely bite. I recall having one trophy left to unlock on the PS3 version with 100+ hours in my save. When my save file got corrupted, lol. Very sad day.

To be fair though, Bethesda was trash at Playstation ports anyway.

all devs sucked at porting to ps3 for the first like 3 years because no one had experience with the cell architecture. Even 1st party took a long while to get proficient with it, the difference between uncharted 1 and 3 is massive for example.

Extermin8or3_7d ago

Oh oh oh I can do this too. GTA 7 will be made at some point in the future. Fallout 5 will enter development in the future too

jznrpg7d ago

Everyone there should know most gamers want New Vegas and Morrowind more than anything.

Christopher7d ago

Which is why we won't get them. Gotta keep floating "support this one and it might happen".

BlaqMagiq17d ago

Can't wait. Won't have to go back to my PS3 to play this when it comes out.
