I realize there are more games that are coming out this year, but as of right now I actually have to say if I had a vote this would be my pick for game of the year, and I don't usually care for horror games.

How a parent thinks :

''I'll let my son play video games. He's mature enough to make the difference between this and reality.''

If nothing bad happens : ''I told you. I taught him well.''
If something bad happens : ''It's the video games. Not my fault.''

I remember when my mom would take me to blockbuster once every week or two so I can rent a game for myself for the weekend. She would always ask me what the game was and what it was about on the way home. I'm sure you guys can imagine the look at my moms face when I got resident evil and explained to her what it was. I was 14 at the time. She shrugged it off and asked me "you know the difference between a game and life still?" I laughed and said of course. I found it annoying as a kid she kept asking me the questions all the time. Years later I've come to an understanding she was simply doing her job. Mom was being mom.

I was under the firm opinion that the PS3 and Xbox 360 should have had 18 ONLY in big red letters on the side. The games could still be rated whatever. This then puts all responsibility in the parents hands and avoids any legal recourse.

dead space made me scream like a little girl when 1 of those weird tentacle babys came from the wall.

Well, when I was young, my mother wouldn't let me play Castlevania on NES... just one look at the cartrige and she said "hell no, you aren't bringing that in my house". Kids have it so made now a days... spoiled brats...

Im a Manager with Gamestation and at least 3 times today I have sold 18+ games to parents with there kids there, When I advise them that they are not meant to be played by anyone under 18 they all said "they play them all" and one parent said when buying GTA 4 "its not like hes gonna kill anyone" well I hope she is correct.

I dont think parents will ever care about buying 18+ games for there kids because its keeps the kids happy and gives the parents a quite life.

That said I dont think games are to blame for looneys kill ppl because they did it in a game, they have a screw loose anyway.

would let my child who is 6 play a 12 or 15 under supervision.she is bright for her age and is aware that games are games and not to be reflected in real life . if things get a bit strong with violence or language then she is told that she isnt allowed. she currently playing cod4 and getting quite good if i do say so . she wants to play dead space but ill have to go through it first to see if its suitable but with an 18 rating i doubt it is so she have to wait a few years for that 1
on level 4 at the moment and so far i aint seen nothin too scary about this game but its good

Dead Space is a fantastic game, and yes it is brutal and yes it is horrifying and awesome. do i believe someone under the age of 18 should play it? probably not. will people who shouldnt? of course. thats the way the world works.

but seriously, parents who buy rated 18 (or M) games for kids under the age limit should have to sign a receipt that says, "my kid is not of age, but i will still allow them to play (insert title name) because i believe they know the difference between real life and fantasy" and then laminate those receipts.

then in 12 years if one of those kids does something wrong, we can pull out the receipt and slap the parent in the face with it (if they blame videogames).

well raising kids the same way would be boring

however it is what the parents do or not do that makes thier kids the way they are in personality

i know when if i want to have kids someday im going to make them learn self defense and maybe show them a few fighting movies mortal combat, dragon ball z etc but thats your choice if you want to be a parent and raise them a certain way but im going to give them the freedom i didn't much really have to do whatever the hell they want as long it isn't bad. anyways that being said

if those kind of parents are going to buy rated 18 games at least for the type of kids they are dont buy ones that are possible to do in real life.

Companies can warm parents all they like but no one listens. That kid is gonna find a way to get his parents to buy it. TV and video games are a lazy parents babysitter. They don't mind buying anything without even looking at the rateing on the box. Until the kid shoots someone then its all the games fault......GTA anyone?

some parents are just stupid... they do not care what their kids play or watch on tv and later they complain about their kids behavior... Today I picked up a game and a kid was with his dad and the father asked him, "are you going to spend all the money you saved on games?" kid, reply, "yeah!.... ohh wow look dad, bioshock.... look it has Blood and Gore and Language.. mind the kid he was reading the rating..."...
the father asked the kid, "how much is it?"....
I left the store so, I don't know what happened after that... but that's a good example... by the way.. the kid seem like a 10 years old.

when a hunter kills Isaac in Dead Space it is completely brutal and lasts a good 20 seconds and there is nothing left of him but a few giblets. 18+
