Nintendo Needs to Kill The 3DS

Phil from Handsome Phantom believes that the 3DS should be taken out to pasture in favor of the Switch and says, "I haven’t traveled with my 3DS since Nintendo released the Switch nearly two years ago. I’m sure, like me, most of you prefer to travel with as little as possible and having to take more than one portable system with you can just be a nuisance. When they announced the Switch, Nintendo seemed to have a product on their hands that would not only replace the Wii U as the home console, but would allow the 3DS to finally rest in peace as well. Yet, here we are with the re-release of the original Luigi’s Mansion and the game is only releasing on the 3DS!?"

The thing is they can easily move their entire 3DS Library to the Switch...isn't that something they'd enjoy doing, re-releasing games people may have missed out on for the Switch. I don't see why it hasn't happened, the Switch game library would explode

NecrumOddBoy2778d ago

Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn
Luigi's Mansion
Link Between Worlds
Metroid Samus Returns

These are games that should be on the Switch. They don't need any real HD updates. Just put them on Switch so we who grew out/past the dinky 3DS, can enjoy them, please.

“Yet, here we are with the re-release of the original Luigi’s Mansion and the game is only releasing on the 3DS!?"”

Yeah because it’s so cheaper to just release it on 3DS because it’s reusing assets from Dark Moon.

3DS isn’t hurting anybody. Why you got a problem with it?

Theknightofnights2778d ago

It'd be nice if they also released it on Switch though. I get why they aren't. It's a cheaper port, reusing the engine for Dark Moon and porting assets over...but I'd love to play the game in HD. I'll still buy it for 3DS though.

The 3DS isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Some games are simply more fun to play on the 3DS and the latest releases plus the Nintendo support clearly show that it still has huge potential. Plus it does not hurt the Switch sales. Plus it's the only Switch alternative.

Luigi’s Mansion deserves a full blown expanded upon remake in my opinion. I’d like to see more rooms and post game content similar to the mirror mode but I’m unsure if Nintendo would even consider it.

cthulhucultist480d ago

I fully agree as I love these games. Luigi's Mansion on Gamecube was a fun experiment to fill the launch window but it ended being up a wonderful game with charm and great graphics.

At this point I am waiting for the rumored Luigi's Mansion 4 for Switch 2, which -if Mansion 3 is any indicator- would be massive and amazing looking

RaiderNation480d ago (Edited 480d ago )

Nah, Id much rather see new games. Just add Gamecube games to NSO.

Michiel1989480d ago

same, the remake era has been fun but I rather see sequels now that just pay homage to their previous titles instead of remake after remake

RaiderNation479d ago

Or, heaven forbid, new IP's!

cthulhucultist480d ago

They should have at least included Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, Rebel Strike and Eternal Darkness in that list

Redgrave479d ago

Eternal Darkness should be up there unless it's mired in licensing problems.

Luigi's Mansion, bc 2 and 3 are there.

Metroid Prime 2

Star Fox Adventures & Assault

Warioworld

Probably be using 3+ year old chips by the time it launches

Tacoboto688d ago

The 2017 Switch is based on the 2015 Tegra X1 so even if Nintendo is using technology from 2022, that alone still represents a significant improvement.

Outside_ofthe_Box688d ago

How many decades has it been since Nintendo consoles been about power?

Inverno688d ago

Should open pre-orders through the E-shop for a period before making it available through stores. And now that COVID is out the way, you can make in store preorders mandatory too. People interested wouldn't have much of an issue driving by if it meant keeping scalpers at bay for a bit.

CrimsonWing69688d ago

I mean, the problem is these a-holes have bots that eat up every sites inventory. Then they sell it on eBay for stupid prices. No matter what you try to do we’re still going to have to fight through these human pieces of sh*t to get these damn consoles at launch.

phoenixwing688d ago (Edited 688d ago )

Well I'll either see if I can get one online against bots or wait till they're saturated and buy in a brick and morter store. Waiting isn't an issue anyway I have enough games to wait out the shortage

FinalFantasyFanatic687d ago (Edited 687d ago )

I can't really understand people rushing out to buy a console at release, I'll wait a year, two years, etc... until I can walk into a store and buy one if I have to, I'm not paying scalper prices.
