Destiny sucks since the first one. Biggest letdown from that year.

I mean its been a failure for over a year it really doesn't matter anymore.

destiny 1 was the only game I played for 3 years. The game saw great improvements worth the taken king expansion. So of course, everyone was looking forward to destiny 2 because we all thought bungie learned from their mistakes. Unfortunately that was not true with destiny 2. Bungie made the same mistakes with destiny 2 and now it seems that history will repeat itself.

It failed to me but admittedly I wasn't much of a fan of the first either.

all im going to say is destiny 1 never went on PS Plus.

Destiny 2 at launch was woefully unfinished and had no vision. I blame time restrictions set by Activision. I thought the campaign was great but there was almost no endgame to be found after beating the story. That, and for some reason they listened when people bitched about the grinding from the first game, which endgame grinding is the only reason why people continue to play MMO games after reaching max level anyways lol.
That being said, I gave the new DLC a shot and it is really, really good. Amazing production value, crap ton of end game content. It seems Bungie fixed many of the initial problems. I just wish they had waited a year and released all of it as one package, but you know, $$$. The outlook towards the game would be completely different if it released as it is now last week instead of what we originally got last year.

You can say it's a flop or failure all you want. Commercially it is a huge success. I don't even like the game, but failure it is not.

Yet people want Bungie to work on Halo. Stay far away please!

Except it didn’t fail. It sold millions of copies. Did it have its issues? Yes, without a doubt. It is in a hetter place now? Absolutely! It still had a ways to go though, but it is in a much better place now.

There's not a Battlefield game more worse than this series. The amazing potential it had to shine from jump is heart shattering.

Some may disagree but it didn't fail at all knowing it sold millions.Some may not see it but Destiny has a fan base.

I think the game was a let down, but as far as subscriber base and sales, was it considered a failure to activision?

The only reason its currently bad is because the devs are bunch of wallys who seem like they don't know what they are doing... Its a good game that could be brilliant but its just too much of a mess.... Better or as good as D1?...... No chance not even close.

Their business model is a fail. I personally love Destiny as a multi-player experience, and don't mind paying for an expansion once every year. The season pass however, and the fact that it is a requirement to play the expansions, is very anti-consumer and a total deal breaker for me. What a shame.

there is nothing to admit. the greenlighing of destiny 2 was a brainfart to begin with.

The only thing this game has going for it that it's not a crushing disappointment like the first. With Destiny 2 I knew exactly what to expect and saved money by not buying it.

Sure that some people claim that the forsaken expansion is good and Bungie has 'redeemed themselves', but just wait until everyone has completed the raid/reached the max light, there will be nothing left to do.

It didn't failed at all in term of sales, People already bought big chunk of the game and those lazy developers got away with it, AGAIN....
No doubt the majority didn't like game, but that shows gamer's are the reason behind the rubbish easy money development and bad services. The industry became worst than ever.

By the time I put in a 20 hr grind to get the look I wanted, the story had long passed. 10 hrs later after doing "events" - I looked at my monitor and wondered what I was doing. I gave Destiny 2 a 30 hr chance. It was relatively entertaining, but after the loot excitement wore off, it became rather boring. You have to be a huge fan to sink 100 usd or more into this free-to play experience with decent graphics.

A failure? From my perspective as a Day 1 player, no. I've still enjoyed the game, despite the flaws and the lack of content in comparison to its predecessor.

To call it a failure is a little rash. A mild disappointment at launch and all the way to Forsaken? That's a more fair answer, in my opinion.

The gameplay has always been a blast. It's the design of everything else that makes this series annoying, frustrating, and extremely tedious. I loved Destiny 1 until I beat the game. It took them too long to push out more content, then wanted to charge the price of an entirely new game just to continue playing. Not only that, but it was even more repetitive, despite new missions and other things to do. I'm sorry, but I just can't support that.

Better late than never.

Sony needs to get back to making great single player games!

I'm not too sure a lot of the people who visit N4G know what Sony have said recently. They "Sony" want an increase of monetization of their user base and deepen sales on other platforms. So to mitigate the rise in hardware components cost. More expensive services, games, micro transactions and lastly more live service stuff. Who would have thought 🤷‍♂️

Good for sure, but did TLOU Factions really need to die for this? It never needed to be live service, 39.99 and we'd play it forever as is.

I'll never understand why they bought Bungie in the first place (especially for that price), Sony got grifted hard.

i mean i'm surprised they didn't see this sooner from the reaction to almost every live service game thats come out.

Do single player campaign games including some games that have sp & multiplayer modes with co-op basically like the components in Halo & Destiny but try something new that's not a typical shooter. An action or action adventure game would be nice.

Bungie have problems internally for sure but Sony shouldn’t get a free pass here. Sony have bungled their management of them big time with their live service mandate. Did they forget Bungie’s pedigree in making single player games?

Bungie was such a bad investment for Sony, especially considering what they paid for it. MS pushed them to do that after getting Bethesda and Activision. One MS exec said they wanted to spend Sony out of business in 2019.

The less live services they do the better. Their single player games will ALWAYS be their bread and butter.

It was a very bad move. They way overpaid for something many of us don’t care about, live service mp. If they paid maybe 1/10th or so it wouldn’t be so bad but billions for a super risky studio. Their gunplay in games is great but that only lasts so long. They should have them make some single player games and maybe they can recoup some of that $$
