Nintendo's Explanation For Limiting Switch Cloud Saves Is Baffling

Nintendo's latest explanation for why some Switch games lack cloud saves makes very little sense.

kneon2819d ago

That is a lame excuse, all other platforms seem to be able to deal with such potential issues.

wonderfulmonkeyman2819d ago

So vote with your wallet and steer clear of the games that don't allow it, which will be the minority of titles in the first place.
That will send the message far more clearly than acting like it ruins everything about the system. Especially when 99% of players won't have any issues with their saves that will require cloud saves in the first place, just like on other systems.

Vote with your wallet and don't pay for Nintendo's online service, I would say.

wonderfulmonkeyman2819d ago (Edited 2819d ago )

I don't plan to pay for it personally because I'm against paywalled multiplayer [the only way that changes is if it's paid for me, via a Christmas or birthday gift or something, and even then i have doubts about how much I'll use it], but avoiding the service entirely, due solely to cloud saves, just feels like a temper-tantrum being thrown.
Especially if the "two free indie games per month" rumors are true, on top of free access to nes and snes games.

I’m a Nintendo fan but I don’t support this kind of limitation. Nintendo should have allowed cloud save for all games (or at least, limited cloud save for multiplayer games which have rankings like Splatoon or Smash).

Let see if the pressure will get to them.

Hardly anything Nintendo does with online gaming makes sense

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing30d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9230d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit30d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing30d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9230d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
