Classic games never seem to die off as developers and publishers continue to bring them back with every console generation. Whether it's a shiny high-definition remaster, a reboot to the series or remade from the ground up - there are major differences between the three. But, what exactly are they?

A credible insider claims an Assassin’s Creed 1 remake has been in development at Ubisoft for quite a few years.
Hope so. I believe this game deserves it the most and will definitely need a lot to overhaul compared to black flag. It's really hard for me to play this game again lol
If any Assassin's Creed game needs a remake its the first one. I just think the original didnt age as well as the others and could use improvements
Good. They should remake all the Altair games. Him and Ezio are very well written and executed.
We've lost the argument in favour of games being art at this point. Maybe a remaster, some touch ups, fixes, a rerelease for modern consoles, bringing attention to the game that started it all, some appreciation. Nah just another remake. I've said this about AC4 and I'll say it for this too. Why not just go back to Altair's era and make a new game centered around him or the changes he made to the order after the events of the first game with a new protag?
Finally. Bring back Desmond and finish his story. 🤦🏾 Yall fcked up massively killing him and that future story.

Nostalgia sells, and many people would get behind these games making a comeback with improved controls, new art styles, better voice acting, and more.
I can't believe Banjo-Kazooie has never got one, especially with the great designs found in Smash Bros.
I feel like it's a release MS could benefit from with Nintendo consoles aswell.
give me a Koudelka, shadow hearts remake. especially Koudelka.
and maybe Haunting Groumd. that game was overlooked asf

Fallout 4 New Vegas is trying to remake the game but plenty of other volunteer places have given up, and Bethesda isn't helping things by not announcing a remake.
Probably because they don't want to acknowledge Obsidian made a Fallout game that feels a bit more Fallout like.
If Obsidian had a better budget and a full development cycle without being rushed this game could have been bigger and even better than it was.
He'll I'd really like to see them finally show some love to the orginals. Can't even get those on gamepass. Plenty of similar type games have been made for consoles so it can be done. People would go nuts for them. They did the og wasteland(well not bethesada) but just as an example. Bethesada treats the og fallout as bastsrd stepchildren. Why
Because of the game engine. Obsidian's Fallout "needs" to be done on the Creation Engine or else it won't have the same charm as New Vegas. An UnrealEngine based one will feel more like Outer Worlds due the lack of scripting that Creation Engine boast.
Now, the latest Fallout build is of the 76, which looks quite dated and is not fit for a future release.
On the other hand, the latest Creation Engine build is of Starfield, which will require quite a lot of re-work from Bethesda themselves after which Obsidian can work on.(And Bethesda teams are likely busy with Starfield fixes, DLCs and Elder Scrolls 6.) This was not the case case during New Vegas, where Fallout 3 build was readily available and Obsidian iterated over it to their liking and design.
Are you serious? Nobody’s that stupid to not know the differences
Reboot: A from-the-ground up revision of an IP or origin game. (Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 2)
Remake: A recreation of a game with a new engine, assets and controls in order to modernize a title. (Ratchet & Clank, SoTC)
Remaster: A polish of visual and other superficial design in order to enhance the original game for current resolution and audio. (Halo Anniversary, Resident Evil HD)
There's quite a bit of difference in them. Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen for PS4 and Xbox One is a remaster. Shadow of the Colossus that hit PS4 at the start of the year is a remake. As is Yakuza Kwami I&II. A reboot is a complete reset or overhaul of a game. God of War is a kind of reboot maybe soft reboot.
Really. Is this really an article?
Hasn’t this question been asked and answered multiple times already?
