Neither Quantum Break nor Alan Wake had multiplayer so I wasn't expecting this one to suddenly change that despite Remedy saying they were going to do more MP games.

C-H-E-F2789d ago

why would it need it? Not every game needs that, I really feel like alot of gamers need to learn how to be alone. My most favorite games are single player.

gangsta_red2789d ago

"I really feel like alot of gamers need to learn how to be alone."

I actually feel the exact opposite. A lot of gamers need to learn how to socialize and do it properly. Not every game needs MP and not every MP games needs a SP campaign too. It goes both ways.

MasterCornholio2789d ago

Video games can be a way to socialize but it shouldnt be the only way that people choose.

But I'm an antisocial gamer so what would I know?

manabyte772789d ago (Edited 2789d ago )

You think multiplayer in a video game is socializing, much less properly?? You sound sheltered. “Socializing” on PSN/XBL is not a substitute for the very different conditions of real life or the work force.

jimbost792789d ago (Edited 2789d ago )

"A lot of gamers need to learn how to socialize and do it properly."
And who exactly are you to judge and tell people what they need to do?

TheOptimist2789d ago

Might as well watch classic movies like Fight Club and Inception with a bunch of 12 year olds who are extremist fans of crap like Fast & Furious.

C-H-E-F2789d ago

Dude are you living in 1970? The people with the most social skills in society are GAMERS and ANIME LOVERS. My whole childhood I played sports, missed out on dragon ball z, pokemon, digimon, all of that. And the people who I interacted with were just about sports, and didn't know much about the world, when it came to talking to girls or people outside of the circle. They didn't because they couldn't so they labeled them as "lame" so they will feel better about themselves.

I later went to college to major in game and simulation programming with a minor in computer information systems. These kids I met then ran the school, pool parties, drinking games, clubbing, parties in general, gaming events, manga events, comic-con etc. These kids were more social than any kid I met growing up.

So stop it with this old fashioned perspective on what a gamer is, or a nerd or whatever, it's not the case. Being able to put yourself into these worlds (gaming/anime) and then having these massive communities attached allows for gamers regardless of genres to reach across the ocean and speak on a game regardless if it's single player or not.

Also to add, talking to someone online through a microphone is far more different than talking to someone in real life. I bet it's hard for you to look someone in the eye throughout a whole conversation yet you want to speak to me about socializing? lOl man please.

gangsta_red2789d ago

@mana
"You think multiplayer in a video game is socializing, much less properly?? "

Yes it is socializing, you are speaking and talking with real people while playing the vidyas.

"Socializing” on PSN/XBL is not a substitute for the very different conditions of real life or the work force."

Awesome!! never said it wasn't.

@jimbost
"And who exactly are you to judge and tell people what they need to do?"

I'm the one who's in the exact opposite group of the person who declared, "gamers need to learn how to be alone.".

@theoptimist
That's not a very optimistic view. You would be surprised how many 12 year olds would like movies like Inception and especially Fight Club.

"So stop it with this old fashioned perspective on what a gamer is,"

Interesting, I just basically had a direct opposite view of yours about gamers and that some how triggered a personal dissertation of your whole life.

"The people with the most social skills in society are GAMERS and ANIME LOVERS."

Yeah...that could probably be debated.

"I bet it's hard for you to look someone in the eye throughout a whole conversation yet you want to speak to me about socializing? lOl man please."

Man, seeing how easily off the hinges you became over a comment that wasn't even about you, I'm going to have to change my mind and actually agree with you that gamers need to be alone. Especially if they start to foam at the mouth so easily and over nothing.

N4G logic:

No multiplayer - Why can't they put some sort of multiplayer in the game? What's the point of having Plus/Gold if there's single player games releasing? I want to play with my friends online together. F- the datacaps my ISP put on me/us, I want my multiplayer!

Multiplayer - This feels tacked on, and they're following X/Y game with the standard options available. This multiplayer is basically a reskinned X/Y. I can't stand when companies do this!

Me - Is the game fun?

FrenchFryNarwhal2789d ago

Who thought this was going to be mutli-player?? It's a very clearly single-player experience.

EDKICK2789d ago

Plenty of people apparently. On an article posted on here a little while back Remedy said they were going to support Control post launch more than some of their other games. Some writer twisted that and said Control was becoming GAAS, then N4G twisted that into meaning it surely having a multiplayer GAAS element.

I mentioned post launch support doesn't always mean MP or GAAS and got downvoted for it but whatever looks like I was right.

Relientk772789d ago

Good, hope the campaign and powers/abilities are awesome

Report: New Trademark for "Control: Resonant" Unearthed, Ahead of TGA

New evidence suggests a Control reveal is imminent. A trademark discovery ahead of The Game Awards hints at big news for Remedy's franchise.

Storm23143d ago

Control was really good. There was a ton of backtracking and running through the building from one end to the other a ton of times, but otherwise I loved it. Can't wait to see the sequel.

medman142d ago

Yeah it was awesome....looking forward to this reveal

REDGUM142d ago

I really enjoyed Control though without the mini map i found myself lost and or unsure of what to do too often and gave in on the game about 30% in.
Ive just re-downloaded it with the latest update with the enhanced graphics but unaure I'll dig back into it agaith with my current backlog.
Looking forward to seeing whats next from Remedy though.

toxic-inferno142d ago

I know exactly what you mean. I've played the game through twice and have had the same issue both times.

What I found on my latest playthrough was that the best way to navigate is to use the physical signs in-game as well as the map.

How the Remedy Connected Universe does the multiverse right

ScribbleCat said: Media is certainly no stranger to connecting all their properties together. Comic books have been doing this for generations, and TV is also known for special crossover episodes, which confirm the notion that they take place in the same fictional world. Video games, which can be barely called a new medium at this point, also have some interesting overlaps with connecting different games. For example, Valve’s Portal and Half-Life show how subtle hints can give players more theories to chew on. Old classics like DOOM and Wolfenstein also share similarities. But my favorite connection between games is the Remedy Connected Universe. While only a connection between Alan Wake and Control have been confirmed, there is SO much more to explore with Remedy’s crazy take on this old formula. And, according to Sam Lake, this is only the beginning.

SimpleSlave302d ago

They really should release the full Quantum Break experience on the PS5. Sure, it's a middle-of-the-road third-person shooter and a perfect example of self-indulgence, but why not? It was fun in short burst and it completes the Remedy set until Max Payne 1+2 Remakes get released later on.

Do it, Microsawft. Don't be cowards.

eh?
They better not mess much with the Max Payne Remake(s)

Yui_Suzumiya516d ago

Yeah but this was announced before the Max Payne Remake after all

LucasRuinedChildhood516d ago (Edited 516d ago )

What does "unlocking some previously released content" actually mean though? I would imagine it should be "previously unreleased content". Bit odd.

DaReapa516d ago

Right. Especially since the Ultimate Edition supposedly contained everything.

raWfodog516d ago

I only played about an hour of Control when I added it to my library back when it was one of the PS+ ‘free’ games. I’ll start it over again after the early 2025 update is dropped. I keep hearing that it’s a good game.

jznrpg516d ago

You can make that statement for any game. It’s called gameplay loop. Not everyone is going to enjoy the same loops but all games are repetitive by nature

RedDevils516d ago

Agree it was very boring game. Could not get into it. Remember me the game I played on PS3 is still better than this.

Chocoburger516d ago

These days "RPG" translates to constantly grinding for experience points, wasting time upgrading gear, and repeatedly collecting resources off the ground.

Please don't be an Ubishit style filler game.

Yui_Suzumiya516d ago

Hopefully it'll be more like Mass Effect

Amplitude516d ago (Edited 516d ago )

Remedy doesn't really make mistakes. It'll be good, I'm sure.

Inverno516d ago

So in other words it's an action game needlessly fluffed out with RPG mechanics and a pointless leveling system. I really enjoy RPGs when they're actually RPGs but modern action games really tire me out when they shoehorn in mechanics they don't need. All this does is make a 20 hour game into a 40 hour game because missions become locked behind level requirements, and enemies become damage sponges. It's not fun, it's tedious.
