I've recently started Yakuza 0. I'm not that far in but I'm enjoying it so far. I'm completely new to the series as well.

Thanks! I'm only on Chapter 4. I'd probably be a little bit further in if I didn't keep doing the side stories that I keep coming across haha.

I’m currently playing through Kiwami(the chronicle sequel to 0), and the side quests are still as weird, in a good way.
I’m so excited that more Yakuza games are coming to PS4.
