Lara stumbles in TR, starts to find her feet in the last game, and is confident in this one...
What are you all smoking? She stumbled on surviving for the first hour of TR then became a man murdering terminator.
Lara Croft: Cold Hearted Commando since TR1.
She has been such a bland, poorly written character throughout this trilogy. Despite Lara's terrible actions, trauma and mistakes, Rhianna Pratchett ALWAYS presented her to the audience as unequivocally being an incredible hero. No grey morality or questions about her character were allowed. We were not allowed to doubt her. She basically killed a shit load of shipwrecked, mentally ill civilians in a concentration camp in the first game with pools of blood so deep that you could drown in them. It hasn't been addressed since and has had no lasting impact on her character. Atrocious.
It's nice to see that the new writers are actually trying to rectify this and give her some quirks and personality. Rhianna Pratchett simply didn't deliver. These writers are willing to address Lara's obvious blood-lust and narcissism and have built it into the story. The huge gap between the story and gameplay (ludonarrative dissonance) shouldn't be as wide this time.
