Ten years ago today, Konami released the hotly anticipated Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation. Perhaps equaled only by Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid was the game that sealed the deal for the PlayStation, permanently establishing it as the premiere gaming destination of the generation. The game not only reintroduced Snake to gamers -- a hero that originally starred in a pair of Metal Gear games on the first Nintendo Entertainment System -- but it also birthed stealth as an entire genre.

It's important in life to maintain a broad palette when it comes to culture and the arts. Hideo Kojima agrees, as he continues to use video games like Death Stranding to introduce people to music and other elements they might not otherwise discover.

Mojang has partnered with Merlin Entertainments to build the world's first Minecraft theme park in the UK.

A three-episode live-action adaptation of the first two Yakuza video games will debut Tuesday, March 17 exclusively IGN. Each episode is about an hour long and will stream on IGN.com and IGN’s YouTube channel.
Legendary franchise that changed my outlook on life, government, terrorism, and most importantly, war. in my childhood. This game (Metal Gear Solid) is what got me into hardcore gaming.
10 years?
Wow, didn't even realise it was that long... gaming has changed so much in that time (and the 21 years since the first game), but Solid Snake remains one of its primary figures.
I feel happy that I've actually grown up with Metal Gear Solid, I'm only a year older than the series.
One of the greatest, if not THE greatest, game series of all time. It's not for everyone, but for those it works for, it works amazingly. Kudos.
Also, MG started out with a pair of games for the MSX, not the NES. Tsk tsk, typical error. ;-)
My father gave me a Playstation console.
Then he showed me a game named "Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action". With a Magazine that has a complete guide of the game.
And told me that it was a very nice game.
And boy he wasn't wrong.
We played that game together and it was one of the best father and son moment that I had.
And hopefully soon we will play MGS4 together (Even though I finished the game 6 times :D ), this time I'm the one who will give him a PS3 and tell him that MGS4 is a very nice game.
I'm 22 now so I'm like 12 years old at that time.
i love mgs. fav game serise EVR!
