Reborn space sandbox No Man's Sky yesterday dropped its huge NEXT update which added full-blown multiplayer to the game. Except, it turns out, if you buy it from GOG.
Sean writes: "Last month’s Remnant update caused much hilarity as you tooled with your newfangled gravity guns and customisable exocraft, transporting precarious industrial cargo across uneven terrain in a classic risk vs. reward fight. Our latest update is a whole different beast."

Classic No Mans Sky...
How did GoG manage that one? Aren't they releasing the same version of the updates?
Wow. I get that they're a small studio trying to make an ambitious leap, but that still seems like a pretty big issue.
I'm assuming this is because the GOG version doesn't use Steamworks, so they have to build the multiplayer using whatever tools are available with GOG Galaxy.
How does that even work? They're making it sound like the game is on a different platform on GOG as opposed to Steam, but isn't that patently false? They're both PC... I can't imagine Steam DRM would be so different as to push a game to loftier heights than another digital distribution service.
Whatever the case may be, this isn't a good look for GOG, that's for sure.
