No Man's Sky launched without multiplayer on GOG

Reborn space sandbox No Man's Sky yesterday dropped its huge NEXT update which added full-blown multiplayer to the game. Except, it turns out, if you buy it from GOG.

They had nothing to do with it. This is on GoG

neoandrew2855d ago

Nope, it is the sole responsibility of a developer to develop their game, GoG just sells games, its not their fault.

@neoandrew
Alright buddy

"For a small, independent studio, developing the feature across multiple platforms is a hugely ambitious and technical challenge which resulted in this delayed release. Hello Games is however joining forces with GOG.COM to introduce full multiplayer via the GOG Galaxy platform."

How is it on GOG? Am I missing something?

You guys obviously didn't read the article. Before you make a comment, make sure you have the facts. Stop the unncessary hate on the game. It's disgusting and annoying.

CorndogBurglar2854d ago

I did read the article. Maybe YOU didn't read the whole thing, or didn't understand what you read?

"For a small, independent studio, developing the feature across multiple platforms is a hugely ambitious and technical challenge which resulted in this delayed release. Hello Games is however joining forces with GOG.COM to introduce full multiplayer via the GOG Galaxy platform."

What does that say? It says its Hello Games that wasn't able to get it implemented. That's what.

So basically, this is exactly the same thing they did with the original launch. They promised something would be in the game, and then it wasn't. Sure this might be on a much smaller scale as it only effects the GOG version. But it doesn't matter. They should have made the announcement that it would not include Multiplayer before this launch.

So there's two ways you can look at this. 1. People hating on the game (for a justifiable reason). 2. People blindly defending the game even though there is plenty of reason to be upset.

Multiplayer is one of the main selling points of this version. They didn't tell anyone it wouldn't be available on the GOG version at launch.

gutteranthems2855d ago (Edited 2855d ago )

How did GoG manage that one? Aren't they releasing the same version of the updates?

Shmeidi2855d ago

Wow. I get that they're a small studio trying to make an ambitious leap, but that still seems like a pretty big issue.

PressXtoBacon2855d ago

Idk, but I think this might be on GoG

neoandrew2854d ago

No it is not, its not gog game, it is 100% hello games fault.

I'm assuming this is because the GOG version doesn't use Steamworks, so they have to build the multiplayer using whatever tools are available with GOG Galaxy.

neoandrew2854d ago

Nah, it doesn't work like that, it is hello games game, it is their responsibility to make the game work and have mp servers connected to any game version.

GOG is just selling games, nothing more, if they wanted a drm free game with mp, they should provide it, not blaming other for their laziness.

MasterChief36242855d ago

How does that even work? They're making it sound like the game is on a different platform on GOG as opposed to Steam, but isn't that patently false? They're both PC... I can't imagine Steam DRM would be so different as to push a game to loftier heights than another digital distribution service.

Whatever the case may be, this isn't a good look for GOG, that's for sure.
