Gamecube was released in November 2001. PS2 was released in March 2000. Also the original Xbox was released in November 2001 and was far superior to the Gamecube.

If memory serves me right, and it usually doesn't because I can plan my own surprise party, the GameCube's graphics processor is 160 something MHz compared with PS2's 140 something MHz, so the Gamecube does have better graphics. The Gamecube was the middle child in terms of graphical output, so Xbox>GCN>PS2.

The wii was great tech for its time... i remember some games looking really good. The thing about the wii is it was the right TIME, PRICE, AND GIMMICK. it was incredible to see nintendo with their trifecta of bullshit lol. The 360 had rrod and the ps3 had 600$$ and expected to fail, no games, and a infant baby psn... the wii was released before the other consoles, launched less than half the price as the others (249$), and had an award winning gimmick the other 2 couldnt match or even try to until years and years later. The thing that really pissed me off about the wii is it basically started the new era of nintendo chasing after casuals, needing some type of award winning gimmick like the wii moving forward, and traded that gimmick for a much less emphasis on power under the hood... cue the wiiu garbage. And then the switch afterwards which in my opinion is what the wiiu should have been. I get that its mostly (99%) powered by the handheld so they couldnt get a metric ton of power... the still could have used the x2 chip to have better performance, battery life, and longevity... and still launched at 299 and maybe lost a buck or 2 instead of making $ on every switch... and the gains would have been far superior. All games 1st and 3rd party would run at 1080 60 in handheld mode... of clurse that means the screen would need to be 1080 instead of 720 but were talking peanuts. Hell for that type of tech people would still gladly pay 349. The edge that console would have had over standard home consoles could have been epic

That isn't true. It depends on the devs. If they want games to have graphical parity then they can easily make all the games look the same.

Why do you think when new consoles come out the games that are made for both the new gen and previous gen never look as good as they could? It's because the devs make it so that it's possible to still play on the previous gen consoles, which are weaker.

The same logic applies here. If a dev is releasing a game that they know will be on Xbox One, PS4, and Switch, then they need to be sure they create a game that is capable of running on the weakest system.
