Both systems have a few good gems under thier belt. XBLA seems to have more "forgettable" titles.

This article fails on so many levels.

Trying to start flame wars is so 2007.

The quality of the PSN games compared to the XBL games are 5 star compared to XBL's 2 Star.

PSN has really GREAT games, The best really. XBl's games are like having a 5 pound bag of chex mix that you paid $5.99 and having to dig deep to fined the really good chips in all the Nasty Pretzels. And most of the time you have to deal with and eat the nasty Pretzels.

PSN is like a 99 cent bag of your favorite Doritos, Cheap but way better than a 5 pound bag of nasty pretzels.

amongs the the massive deluge of shovel ware found on XBLA you will find few gems, Like Fable pub games, Geometry wars, and Braid and Ninja vs pirates and Open tee golf, heavy weapons and REZ HD, but beyond that there isn't that many on xbox live and they are not of high quality like PSN... I'll be the first to admit that Quantity is something the PSN doesnt have compared to XBLA but even that is changing... what the PSN doesn have is quality and in the Ass tons. less shovelware and less forgetable titles on PSN than on XBLA is exactly what you'll find, and thats cool.

XBLA is swamped with quick and dirty retro coin-op conversions, thats not to say they don't have some great titles like Geometry Wars but Sony have made their store a place to not only buy innovative games but AAA titles also. The writer of that article needs to do more research.

Doom, worms and bomberman. There are alot more psn games i have and are very pleased with. But since my 360 crashed i wouldnt mind if those 3 could come to PSN.

Elefunk and Velocity Bowling are alone the best games I have played. Elefunk though is really thought provoking on how to do the puzzles.

...I would love to see more revamped arcade classics on PSN. Don't get me wrong, PSN has some standout titles that I know MS would love on XBLA but I would simply love to see more yesteryear classics revamped for a modern audience. Maybe have as an unlockable feature the original version of the game.

Would love to see a remake of StarRay from the Commodore Amiga which back then was actually a remake of Defender.

Anyway, as long as more games like Super Stardust, Bionic Commando and Wipeout HD are released I won't be yearning for Galaga, Pac-Man, etc any time soon.

Oh yes, I found that I played Pac-Man: CE a hell of a lot more than I ever did playing classic Pac-Man.

hile I cannot fully comment accurately on this subject,(I dont own a 360), the aricle, itself, is not a fair reason why PSN lacks "variety". Sure, XBLA has more demos and titles, but that's simply because its been out longer and the PSN library is still growing and evolving in many ways.

again, I wont comment too much on why XBLA is what it is, but this article needs more tuning in my opinion.

Slow download speeds, i mean it could just be me i get at least twice the download speeds on psn than i do on xbl and having to configure my router for it to play online properly is silly when the ps3 worked fine straight out of the box, i know i already had it configured once but i got a new router since me last having xbox live and had forgot to do it before hand.

Yes xbox live is a good service, but it offers nothing extra that i want, sure there is alot of extra stuff on there that could make it worth the money if i used the, but i don't :\

Flow, Calling all Cars, Pixel Junk Monsters, Pixel Junk Eden, Pain, Super Stardust HD, and some of the PS Eye games. I don't think that you can find this quality of content elsewhere.

If I want Remake #1828 of "Random Space shooter" or "Random online Flash game", I'll use Xbox Live. If I want truly original content like Siren and Echochrome, I'll use PSN.

I mean, let's be serious: 75% of XBLA games are carbon copies of one another. Yes, you have some truly fun games like Castle Crashers and Geometry Wars, but everything in between is derivative. On the other hand, Sony releases actual GAMES on PSN like the aforementioned Siren (better than Silent Hill Homecoming, IMO), Wipeout HD, and Ratchet&Clank (best $15 I've spent in a long while).

Microsoft definitely has the lead in terms of quantity, but who really cares about a Command and Conquer 3 demo or Roogoo? I'll take quality any day of the week, and I sincerely hope you other gamers will do the same.

Echocrome, The Last Guy, and Fat Princess and Ragdoll Kung Fu are on the way.

Where is the depth in games that XBLA offers? Are you serious?!? XBLA is packed with shovelware and remakes that everybody and their grandmothers have already played. XBLA will never have quality games like Warhawk, GT5P, Socom, and Wipeout because of its ridiculous file size limitation. Something's wrong with this guy. This is one obvious area were PSN outshines XBLA.

to make a truly informed decision, but the only titles i've played and enjoyed have been Braid and Castle Crashers (brilliantly fun games).

on the PSN, however, i've loved:

Calling All Cars (fun with drunken friends)
PAIN
Warhawk (though i have the BD version, it's still offered as a downloadable)
SOCOM (ditto)
Burnout Paradise (ditto again)
Wipeout HD (just...damn. this game is amazing, and i don't like racers)

Pixel Junk Eden
Super Stardust HD
Siren
Ratchet and Clank Future: QFB

most of them are brand NEW games, not constant remakes of old games that are ALREADY classic, but are being updated with a few new game mechanics (ie, Pacman World Championship).

the PSN has some classics (MK 2, Gauntlet, etc), but most of the offerings are new games, with an old school feel (ie, Savage Moon, Fat Princess, Crash Commandos).

i think this is one area where both Xbox fans and Playstation fans can agree: the PSN has a superior catalog of downloadable games, due almost entirely to the lack of a file size limit on PSN games, not due to the capabilities of the Xbox 360 as a console. but the result is what it is.

Agree with Ali The Brit just take a look at Wipeout HD wich is pure quality. Not only is it a great game but the review scores for this put quite a few full price games to shame. I also take quality over quantity and thats why im a PS3 owner.

PSN has the most original and unique games. That is what i'm looking for.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
