Microsoft Just Had its Best E3 Ever

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "Well that was pretty incredible. At their E3 2018 showcase Microsoft lifted the curtain on 50 games for the Xbox One which range from small indie titles to major AAA releases but all of which help cement the opinion that the Xbox One is the best play to play all different types of games. This presentation was a tour de force for Microsoft and their console and should not only set them up well for the rest of the year but help get any gamers on the fence jumping over to the Xbox side of things. In short, this was the best E3 Microsoft ever put together."

Ever? Damn people have a short memory span..

AngelicIceDiamond2890d ago (Edited 2890d ago )

Acquiring and opening up a studio for bigger and better games in context is big for MS. Considering new studio investment was the thing MS was in absolute dire need of. I personally wouldn't say best ever. But a very necessary conference indeed.

2pacalypsenow2890d ago

It’s not like they added some massive sudios, ninja theory was the only one worth mentioning.

SCW19822890d ago

@2pac
Playground was also really good for them to finally lock down, they have a lot of talent there. The other 3 are more of a wait and see approach but I trust that Ninja and Playground will deliver the goods.

2pacalypsenow2890d ago

But they were already only making Xbox exclsuive games, so it's nothing new.

GamingIVfun2890d ago (Edited 2890d ago )

If anyone thinks this Microsoft E3 conference was their best they certainly have very low expectations for Microsoft and it's console. The only thing interesting was the third party announcements. Getting bored with Gears, and Halo, Forza is Forza, not that exciting. Buying studios is great but 4 of th 5 already only developed games for Microsoft. They had a flashy stage, not a fan of. Said they are the best at everything as usual, which I think is a mistake and not true. Wasn't a terrible conference but far far away from being mind blowing.

@ 2pacalypsenow

Playground is building a new dev team from the ground up, how is that not new?

Not best E3 Ever but a good one

bluefox7552890d ago (Edited 2890d ago )

It's only it's best when it's not judged on it's own merits, but rather compared to most of the piss poor showings they've had in recent years.

AcidDvl2890d ago

Keep in mind that this 'amazing' E3 show was 90% showing other publishers work.

Xb1ps42890d ago

Oh... so we no longer play other publishers games? So you plan on playing nothing else until the next ps exclusive launches?

AcidDvl2890d ago

Of course we play.

But it's redundant who presents them.

Microsoft banked on other people's work. Nothing new I guess.

goldwyncq2890d ago

They still announced more new exclusives than Sony this year.

AcidDvl2890d ago

And?

Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Spider-man and The Last of Us Part II shits on any exclusive that Microsoft showed.

Quality > Quantity

In which case, Sony has both.

Xb1ps42889d ago

Oh.. got it.. it’s redundant to show 90% of the games we will be playing, with Sony having one extra exclusive they just blew everyone and everything out of the water even if they don’t have release dates..

AcidDvl2889d ago

Playstation owners will be play the games as well.
So it's 100% redundant who shows what.

I'm not sure about ever, but it's the best conference of this year IMO.

darthv72184d ago

...and its barely been 4 years. LMAO

DarXyde183d ago

Halo Infinite?
Hell no, It's Finished.

... I'll see myself out.

crazyCoconuts183d ago

Taking the "in" out of Infinite

... and he broke into the attic again and got his drums back.

Yang_kai183d ago

Well good luck with the next game, been on almost all systems will help the game life and strengthen their community with fresh blood.

RaidenBlack183d ago

no MP till Halo 7, as per leak
Don't know if it'll release parallelly with Halo 2R or Halo 3R or totally after the trilogy of remakes.

Inverno183d ago

Onto the next 10 year promise! When that turns out to be more Unreal slop you can drop it and promise the same for the game after.

franwex183d ago (Edited 183d ago )

I’m one of the 15 people that regularly play this. Oh well. Hopefully the game will retain a small dedicated player base.

Halo art director leaves studio after 17 years with ominous message alluding to discontent

Glenn Israel writes: "As of today and after seventeen long years, I am officially no longer contributing to the Halo universe. There is little more I can say for the moment, though I intend to share this particular story in its entirety when it is absolutely safe to do so next year. In the meantime, I have a message for anyone and everyone who needs to hear it.

I know that the state of our industry seems dire, but never forget that you are *free to choose*. No illusion of security nor promise of wealth or fame or power is worth trading away your health, your dignity, your ethics or values - and no one can force you to. Stay strong, take evidence when necessary, and find where you belong."

My god.
There's a story for next year.

VenomUK212d ago

I’m really disappointed to learn there are still people/morale problems. I thought the whole point of rebranding 343i to Halo Studios was to signal that real changes had been made - not to cynically rebrand to paper over the problems.

I really hope the Halo CE remake is great and gets people hyped for the future of the series.

DarXyde211d ago

It's inevitable with the modern landscape. Even if some issues have been assuaged, new ones crop up all the time.

I'm willing to bet AI and the lack of regulation is causing substantial upset.

shinXseijuro212d ago (Edited 212d ago )

He said something very marking . We tend to complain a lot about the industry but deep down I realize that we never have we been offered this crazy amount of games all available for you to play now . You can literally play any sorts of games in 2025 . Nobody is forcing you to buy the latest COD or the latest BF . You’re more of a 8 bit cozy gaming guy there’s a whole niche of modern games for that . You like micromanaging there’s games for that . I feel like we have been spoiled so much we just stopped being realistic and thinking for ourselves . We follow trends cry about stuff online when you are the buyer you have the power .

Notellin211d ago

I'm not buying any games until another Immersive sim is made.

PhillyDonJawn212d ago

....wth happened over there?
Does this confirm a new Halo by next year?
What did they want him to do that made him feel it was morally wrong or a insult to his integrity?

-Foxtrot212d ago

Well how about that, a name change doesn’t fix internal issues

Who would have thought

jznrpg211d ago

MS was throwing money around for a long time but now it’s time to pay the Piper.
