nothing about Nioh would lead me to throw Ninja Gaiden in there. Of course I wouldn't consider "Onimusha is classic Resident Evil meets...." either

I agree Onimusha and Nioh are vastly different though they are incredibly the same as well. Onimusha level design, katana/Japanese Samurai game play. There's not enough there where I'd specifically think of one or the other being alike though I could see some comparisons.

Oddly enough I was digging through some olds magazines and crap the other night and came across an Onimusha strategy guide. Onimusha 1-3 were some solid games. In the right developers hands I think they could easily reboot the franchise and make something great. This is definitely an IP that a lot of people would love to see made. Problem is, from a business perspective, sales expectations would probably be low, ie a niche game. Though with Monster Hunter selling so well alongside other titles that in the past probably wouldn't have sold much more than a million copies +/- you just never know. I hope Capcom brings Onimusha back and does it justice. Action games seem to be far and few between and we have even less feudal Japan titles.

@Seraphim Onimusha is literally RE in oldskool Japan. By that I mean it was pitched as RE but with ninjas, it began life in development as an RE spinoff game and it plays nearly identical to classic RE but instead of shooting zombies and bio-weapons in modern times, you're cutting up demons during the late Sengoku period. I agree with everything after first paragraph, though.
