Well against Microsoft yes they have, but too early to call against Sony. Now in terms of first party published software sales, these two titles will probably put Nintendo over the top this year publisher wise. Hardware sales against Sony will most likely be neck to neck closing out what looks to be another strong year for those two.

Ok sure whatever you say lol. As other has said, how does Nintendo win even though they have yet to release any truly compelling game this year. They released what, Kirby? Yes Smash will be a big hit, and I'm sure Pokemon will be as well (sale wise at least, not sure how the reception will be among hardcore fans). But stop acting like Nintendo gets an automatic win when both of their titles are releasing late 2018.

You make yourself look like a blind fanboy, completely ignoring any other huge heavy hitters this year such as God of War, Spider-Man PS4, Shadow of the Colossus, Detroit Become Human. Let's not even forget some major 3rd party games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Monster Hunter World, Ni No Kuni II, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and so on. These titles will most likely not even get a release on Switch, so that's way more amazing games on Ps4 and other platforms compared to Switch.

Yet you're claiming Nintendo win by Smash (which fine not gonna argue against that), and Pokemon Let's Go Eevee & Pikachu which is implementing GO features from the mobile game that no one asked for the first console pokemon game in a long time while removing core features like random battles and ignoring 99% of other pokemon after gen 1.

Ummm....no. as someone who owns a switch. It's been turned off most of the year. Since nothing compelling has been released. Smash will be outstanding and I'm looking forward to it but the pokemon game coming this year is hot garbage. It's not the core RPG we want(or I want anyway).

Wii U ports....and some indie like Celeste(which BTW is multi platform). And yet they claim victory....IMHO so far into this year, Nintendo is even worse than Xbox..why?? that's because Xbox at least got Monster hunter world and other third party AAA games(even if it lack in exclusive department).

Nintendo lacks in ever department with the eighth generation consoles being a nineth generation. Every port will lack some kind of feature seen on other platforms.

Smash is one of the most overrated franchise ever! That game peaked on the Gamecube... It's only fun when you're playing with friends, but gets boring and repetitive quickly (Imo)... Are we seriously pumped for a new smash which will be a port of the Wii u version with new characters and maps? I bought into the hype and purchased it for the Wii-u and was totally unimpressed. Kept me captivated for less than 6 hours of total play time with my kids. I truly think Nintendo enthusiast love talking about this franchise more than they actually like playing it... What are we expecting from this game that hasn't been done 3 times before? 100 player battle royal? Let's not kid ourselves, we know exactly what's going to be in the game and we need pump the brakes a little. Fighting games are niche and one can't win E3 by itself...

I'm still looking forward to Nintendo's E3, but it won't be for Smash or pokémon....

You're telling me, that, in comparison, Sony has already released God of War, the most critically acclaimed game of this year so far, Detroit, which has been getting solid reviews and praise, the Shadow of the Colossus remake, which also received critical acclaim and got better scores than its original PS2 release, and they have Spider-Man on its way, which has been gaining a lot of hype and attention, but Nintendo has somehow won 2018 with 2 games that have yet to be released? It's true that Pokemon and Smash Bros are known to be big titles and system sellers, but quantity alone isn't going to win a year. They need a combination of quality and quantity, something that Sony has been doing since this year started.

It's had less than 10 retail AAA 3rd party releases all year. *I challenge anyone to name more.*
It's relied on WiiU ports almost entirely & only had 2 new games from Nintendo (Kirby / Mario Tennis).
It has Smash Bros & Pokemon for the rest of the year. - It hasn't won anything.
It's also miles behind PS4 in NPD because of these reasons and near enough dead in Europe right now.

No one has won yet. No one. Not Nintendo, not Sony or MS.

As someone who has no interest in playing a Switch version of Pokemon Go or Smash Brothers... i'll have to disagree.

I'm always surprised, maybe I shouldn't be, when people write something that's a blanket statement. Why not just say "Nintendo has won 2018, already... for me." I'd be much more willing to read why at that point versus the above headline, but I guess it wouldn't get as much clicks.

Incidentally, as a 43 year old, I like many others, missed the whole Pokemon phenomena, of course the games are popular, but I don't think one game from Ninty can be considered as more important than all of the exclusives in combination with 3rd party releases that have been available on Playstation in 2018.

Pass on both , Pokémon was after my (childhood) time and so was Smash never could get into them but I did play Pokémon with my son so that made it fun for a little while. He is now in college , maybe if my little daughters like Pokémon someday I may get into a little but Sony has killed it all year not sure how to younger audience games win a year full of good games

Nintendo has yet to release any noteworthy exclusives this year. RDR2 is not coming to Switch. Sony dominates the sales charts. How is Nintendo winning exactly? Pokemon and Smash will sell big numbers but 2 games aren't enough to "win" an entire year.

How is that? Because its outselling hardware from 2013? Itd be worrisome if it wasnt doing well against them. Ive supported them since I was given a NES as a child however it doesnt mean they won 2018. Sony kicked some a$$ with GoW & will kick some more when the rest of their 1-3rd party drops. Especially Spider-Man. A MEGA icon getting top notch treatment by top notch devs. Nintendo has some amazing games releasing themselves like Metroid, Smash, Bayonetta, Octopath traveler, etc but again, PS4/XB1 released back in 2013. I am happy that nintendo is releasing a steady stream of AAA exclusives though.. A very aggressive approach compared to the past. But now its a hybrid console. Will we truly be getting more games or less? Since handheld/home divisions are combined we might get less overall.

I occasionally play Skyrim in bed when I’m bored on my Switch, maybe a bit of shovel knight or stardew valley, but a majority of the time I turn it on, check the store hoping some new AAA game I didn’t hear about is out, see that there’s nothing there and then turn it off.

As someone who owns all the consoles, ps4 has the goods for me. Best exclusives in my opinion. Gets all the AAA multi platform games. Still has lots of indie games. Very disappointed in my Xbox. Sea of thieves was horribly disappointing. State of decay 2 is very rough.
