I wish they'd had a demonstration video with this announcement because I cannot wrap my head around just how it works.

Cobra9512924d ago

Thanks for those, especially the Engadget video (2nd one). Great concept for impaired gamers. If it looks like a normal controller to the system, it should work well with Windows PCs too.

Azure1422924d ago (Edited 2924d ago )

It seems to work as some kind of interface for getting things like pedals and other types of ease of access accessories to input specific functions, like making a pedal map to a trigger or a buzzer to 'B' on a controller. It uses 3.5mm jacks to attach these accessories to the top of the controller.

The fact that it's modular means that any particular need the individual may have can be met simply by choosing the right module, and new modules can be made to improve accessibility over time. Super smart design, and I'm glad MS chose to work with so many organizations and end users to get things right!

It is just a very nice move from MS. Thanks for not let anyone behind.

Neonridr2924d ago

when I first saw the thumbnail for the controller I thought it was a DJ accessory, I was like "how is this adaptive?". Then I watched the video... nice move by MS. Ensures everyone has the right to play games, regardless of their condition.

2pacalypsenow2924d ago

It looks like a hot plate lol

Neonridr2924d ago

@2pacalypsenow - it definitely does, no joke.

Neonridr2924d ago

very cool, and a nice way to ensure more people get to play games.

Emme2924d ago

Why do they all spoil E3 ? I mean, wouldnt that have been THE place to announce that thing ?

TheCommentator2924d ago

They did the same thing with the 1X last year before E3.

rainslacker2923d ago (Edited 2923d ago )

As great as this is of MS, this has limited appeal to the mainstream. E3 conferences are essentially a mainstream event, so they don't really delve too deep into this stuff in conferences.

Hopefully they'll have some on the show floor though so the media can see how it works better, and report on it more. That's why it makes sense to announce it early, so journalist can know about it ahead of time, and plan to spend some time with it for their articles.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio19d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing19d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9219d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit19d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing19d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9219d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
