In a post-NPD interview, Aaron Greenberg, director of product management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, reiterated Microsoft's belief that Xbox 360 will outsell PS3 on a worldwide basis this generation. The following are the excerpts from the interview, covering everything from the risks of being a first-mover to maintaining profitability and recent Japanese success. And of course, in Greenberg's style, a few jabs against rival PS3.
Note to readers: We also extended an invitation to Sony and Nintendo for post-NPD interviews, with no response."

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
Aaron Greenburg= joke.
Keep dreamin greenberg.
Sure, the 360 will have sold more than the PS3 to the day when Microsoft releases the next Xbox in less than 2 years. But since the PS3 will be around longer, its overall sales numbers will be much larger in the long run compared to the 360.
I guess it really depends what Msoft defines this generation...If Msoft sells the next Xbox (720?), tomorrow, can the claim victory, as they are out of the current generation.
Let say 2 years from 360 is aging, and they start releasing their next system, but this time they don't kill of their 360 so quickly, and Sony goes on for 3-4, and eventually passes them say a year after msoft releases their next system. Does it mean Sony won between them, lost...what?
I don't think SONY will not past the xbox 360 when the next one is released. I think the PS3 will be expensive till it is seen as a failure completely. The hype is only still alive because killzone 2 is there last hope. If it bombs then it's over. It would be like halo selling badly.
Another thing is people are buying the PS3 off the fact that they believe it truly is more powerful. Well once the new xbox comes out and they can clearly see how much the PS3 has aged then people will drop it. Seriously gamers don't have loyalty and graphic whore are even worst. I mean really if they could afford a good PC now they would see today why the PS3 will be left behind.
The PS3 will be forgotten and SONY will keep the price high because they know they don't have the money to do this next gen with MS. MS has better development tools and games like crysis will likely be the bench mark that every one is going to shot for. Yet by that time the power of GPUs or GPCPUS will be crazy. Imagine having a HD4800 in your next system. Then a possible Larrebee also.
There will be a better optical disk solution also and SSD prices should be very low by then. Now if MS gives the developer to just ship games on a cheap fast SSD then the PS3 and any optical media would automatically loose. These SSD based games could even come with extra daughter chips similar to a quadroplex external graphics card. The idea of that means infinite and cheap upgrades be way of the media not the system.
Now that is a system that could last for 10 years yet the extra chips would have to be as cheap as printing two disk or maybe it subsidized in the publishers cut?
If that was over your head just imagine if the FX chip came back and then imagine if it was an actually extra graphics card the size of a penny?
Yet the option should be available and optical media should still be used since it is already cheap except for blu ray.
