this is what jaded every game with hype. Both COD4 and Halo are great titles that have massive success on their own merit. you cant kill a success rival, but you can be just as success or a little bit better. which is why Socom will always have it's success as will COD4 and every Halo game thats released

I played the Socom beta, it wasn't that great.

to this pod cast, so can someone please tell me if they really think that SOCOM is going to defeat COD4 and Halo3 at the same time? I really can't help but laugh at this if this is what this podcast is saying. So please can someone give me a brief summary of this pod cast?

socom is a cod4 killer in my books, socom is way more competitive and the clan set up is much better and yea socom has a 10million user fanbase and it more realistic and yea it a much better game in my opinion. socom is the greatest online franchise imo.

You know is it just me or does Socom for POS3 look like a PS2 game??? the graphics dont look any better than Socom 3 honestly. Maybe if I take my beer goggles off it will look a little better. Gotta love the power of the "CELL".

Socom is too hard to be a Halo or COD killer. It takes too much skill and not enough people have the patience to learn it. I love it but its not for everyone.

do to single system owning fanboys (not all single system owners are like this just fanboys), every game for their system MUST kill something on the oposing system. I miss the days before crazy fanboyism came about, it got extreme this gen that's for sure. I think it's way the f**k out of line to be honest and think it's sad. It's because of that... why great games can't co-exist in a plethora/sea of great games. But they are rather thrown into comparisons by graphics, gameplay, etc.. Every game has it's different way of doing things to give it, it's own feel. But somehow, someway the fanboys must compare games cause they absolutely must have thee best game on their system. When in all actuality if they would just own or at leat except the opposing system and it's games, they would realize the other systems actually have great games also, and they very well can co-exist together. But this problem will always exist for those extremist's. No video comparisons of resistance 2 and gears 2 on this site will make me choose between the 2. I will own both and enjoy both, because they are going to be amazing. It's really sad how much this gen of systems also got people more worried about graphics over anything else about games. So much logic in gaming and gamers is getting lost now days. It's getting depressing!

Socom 2 was one of the most addicting online games I played. I wouldn`t say confrontation "kills" cod 4. cod 4 held its own in #1 for a year. They are both behemoths.

Definitely like it way more compared to COD4. You actually have to aim to kill someone! :)

Because Socom Confrontation takes skill to win, it has already surpassed CoD4. Not to brag and all, but when I was playing CoD4 online for the first time, I was always on the top of the list. Most kills with the best kill to death ratio.

Another good reason why I love Socom over CoD4 is that socom does not have regenerating health. That's the dumbest thing to ever have in a shooter.

COD 4 and Halo killer? If you prefer SOCOM way over COD 4 and Halo, then yes, to you it kills them.

In terms of sales? Nope. Actually in terms of sales, Halo kills all.

Didn't SOCOM have serious flaws? I'm talking about horrible hit detection and hiding in boulders and houses while your gun sticks out and take out easy victims? I have a buddy who was in a few Socom tournaments and even he said the best used these glitches to their advantage. SOCOM was always a poor mans shooter. Nothing else on the ps2 that had great multiplayer so everybody flocked to this.

Personally I think Socom is the best out of all of them. COD4 is way too easy and I dont like the game modes as much as socoms.
Halo 3 doesnt stack up against either imo, but is still fun as hell.
What I love about Socom is the gameplay, game modes, the whole lobby system, the guns, the teamwork, and the realism.
The only thing bad about the game is some errors and server issues, that was on the first day.

All three of the games are completely different besides being a FPS. And anyone, how can something that cant even connect online kill competition. I WANT TO PLAY ALREADY! Been having issues forever

I have never played halo and could care less about halo . socom has a big install base of fan an as long as there fans buy the game who gives a fk about the other retards who weren't going to get the game anyway . to the podcast, but I am going to answer based off on the topic. I would say no....I played the Socom Beta, and it did nothing for me beyond COD 4......then add in that COD 4 had a single player campaign to go along with online.......I am not sure how it would be called a COD 4 Killer.

Socom isn't a Turok killer, Serious Sam Killer, or Area 51 killer, the game is unfinished garbage with no co-op play or story mode for you to play co-op in.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
