That means on Blu ray they are expanded they are not the same size

in other words zoom into a image that was taken from a high cam then compress it then zoom in again

Guys, don't fool yourselves. This game won't go to the 360. It's safe on the PS3. And, if by some chance it does, it won't look anything close to what is presented in stunning HD on the PS3. They might get a MGS4 battle...or lite...but they won't get the real thing. It's just not going to happen. PS3 will get the next Halo before MGS4 goes to XBOX360 in its entirety. I'm putting my money on it. See, 2 bucks...right there.

I for one do not look forward to this game coming on the 360. The game simply does not deserve that kind of attention.

Tbh I'd much rather they spent their time working on a new mgs and made it multiplatform than waste time porting an old game. I completed the amazingness that was mgs4 a day after relaase and still love the online but I doubt by the time it'd be finished porting to the 360 that it would still be as appealing. I mean think about it, how many ppl are honestly gonna buy bioshock for ps3 when it comes out. Why fork out £40-£50 for an old game when there are brand new cutting edge games to purchase instead. This is the same reason mgs2 never sold very well on the original xbox, it was too old.

And as I recall Konami stated a while ago that they had no plans to port mgs4 to the xbox360 but that 360 owners were to recieve an mgs game so who knows. Konami are aware that tehre is a demand for mgs on the 360 so wouldn't it much better to recieve a brand new mgs as opposed to an old port.

And of course the 360 can handle it. What I would question is the quality of the port, I mean as stated above it has been taylored specifically to the ps3's strengths so porting it to a console with completely different architecture will likely result in a shoddy port no matter how good the developer is, a la bioshock. So in essence the 360 could recieve mgs4 but it may prove inferior to its ps3 counterpart as is the case with most ports.

The sales were fine 3 million in the first week is defintely not bad.

Dude have you ever actually played this game, honestly there's not a thing i'd change, the story is epic and so is the gameplay. MGS is a genre in itself and frankly I prefer using tactics to sneak past the enemy or despatch them in order to make your way to your objective as opposed to killing swarms and swarms of aliens for the entirety of a game.

Anyways, of course MGS4 is possible on the 360....with multiple DVDs, compressed audio, video, the odd compromise of the game's overall visual quality, and obviously with MGO on a DVD of its own.

I'd like to see him say the same thing about games like Uncharted, Killzone or GT5: Prologue though...

They are with the CPU, the lack of HDD, and most importantly, the DVD discs, not to mention they'd have to modify the game and take away so many PS3 references. The expenses of making all that aren't enough to justify a relatively old game.

Regardless, if you had told me that so many exclusive PS3 games were going to Xbox 360 before GDC 2007, I would have lost all faith in my PS3. However, GDC 2007 and it made useless every Xbox game in comparison to LBP and Xbox LIVE in comparison to Xbox LIVE. I think all 3rd party games should get ported to 360 and viceversa, since it doesn't really matter anymore. Microsoft is not going anywhere with multiplatform games, really.

if the ps3 is more reliable hardware. and sony all the exclusives microsoft wants. microsot has few sony would want.

why get the 360? its obvious the playstation brand has the games. microsoft has been building up this library of random games. a few exclusives. but microsofts best games are games popular on the playstation brand.

aside from hate for sony i see no reason for the 360.

this proves the best games have always been on the playstation which is why microsoft wants them, they know they cant go up against them.

third party games?? hey lets make them all multi console... following capcom no more console exclusives and timed exclusives many more companies are not only following that lead but also using the ps3 as the lead console.

We don't care if this will RRoD our system, we don't care if this will be on 7 DVDs, we don't care if this will be gimped down, we don't care if gameplay will be reduced, heck we don't even care that the PS3 controllers will not be removed as part of the game; we will not even care if there are reference to blu-ray disk in the game, we have uneducated userbase whose mindset are that of 7 year olds and they will not care about it. What is certain? That the game will either have to omit content and severely compress data, which will lead to texture degradation and poorer sound quality, depending what the compress. There is NO way Microsoft is going to let Konami use 4 discs, because of the extra fee they charge for using more than one disc. If you need proof refer yourself to id's game Rage for the 360/PS3.

yeah 360 could handle MGS4. but in all honesty would 360 owner really want it. thats the real question. i have the movie/game and if i would have known about the movie before i brought it. i wouldn't have wasted $65 dollars on it. i would have just waited for it to hit cable and save my money.

im a ps3 owner and although i have been hateful towards the 360 and microsoft (i still am just because u dislike their business tactics in both the pc and games industry) , im in no way up sony s a$$. having said that, i do believe the 360 can handle mgs4 (with a few optimisations, tweaks etc obviously). the question is not if , its when. see daniel dawkins comments (psm3 editor) on this matter...hes probably the most down to earth gamer i v seen - he still prefers the ps3, but he acknowledges that both consoles are great- something waaay different than downright fanboys we have become debating on this site, myself included....as for me ...i guess i would pick up the 360 eventually around xmas time.

There's nothing about MGS4 that couldn't be done on the 360. I've played the game through twice, and from textures, enemies on screen, AI, physics, there's nothing.

My feeling is that the only reason MGS4 (supposedly) takes up 50GB is because of uncompressed textures / audio and possibly redundant info (like Oblivion PS3) to aid in streaming and seek times.

Sure it would have to come on multiple discs for the 360 version - but I don't see how disc swapping is any worse than a 3 minute wait for the PS3 to install the next chapter.

What I do find funny is how quickly fan boys switch...

We've gone from 360 fans saying 'MGS4 sucks, it's only a 2 hour game with 10 hours of cut scenes'. And are now saying 'MGS4 will be on 360 ha ha'.

And PS3 fans going on about MGS4 being the PS3's killer app, to now saying 'Don't care if it goes to 360 we've got games X, Y and Z to look forward to'.

with comments like these and people keep saying that MS didn't pay for FFXIII going multi-plat. the problem here is that Konami wants the money but Kojima rejects it. ;-)

but it will take a few disc to do. now this is where its gonna get fun. there is no doubt that blu-ray comes in handy for games like mgs4 when it comes to storage. however, what if the 360 can run mgs4 better despite using multiple disc? this would be a blow to the ps3. that is where the real test lies for the ps3's claim to be the most powerful. will the small advantage in the 360 gpu make the difference visually? Or will the the Cell prove it's worth if the game stutters on the 360? we'll see.

and this game is truly a masterpiece. There are flaws, but the graphics, sound, and story is above all IMO.

Try playing MGS4 on a 42" LCD TV with a great sound system and you'll know what I mean.

If this game doesn't win a GotY award or atleast a best in graphics of 2008, then something is wrong in the world today. :)

360 gamers should play this game weather on their beloved console or on the PS3. But I don't want that to happen since MGS4 should just stay on a Sony Console where it belong. :)

Look at Metal Gear Sales... that's how good a game on the PS3 can sell... not even 4 Million... now compare to Gears 1 or Halo in terms of sales.... that how well it could of sell on the xbox 360.... take a look at Metal Gear online... sucks major balls and barely anyone plays it... that would be a different story on xbox live...

bottom line... developers should be trying to support the consoles where they can gain fans and a larger demographic... even if that means releasing their games in as many platform as possible. The PS3 at this moment is the worst choice for 3rd party developer if they want to maximize their earning.... not one game on the PS3 have gotten close to many xbox 360 in terms of sales... I'm willing to bet that LBP will not sell as much as Halo... bets?

It's sad to see so many people downing on MGS4 now just because the 360 might have it on their system. One of my best friend's told me as soon as MGS goes to the xbox then everyone's going to say, "Well, it wasn't that great anyway." Why is that? I own a ps3 and I did own an 360. I like gaming wars as much as the next guy but come on. Just because MGS4 is crossing platforms doesn't mean that the game is worthless.

If they did. My question is how would they get around the references regarding Sony's or Apples merchandises. I mean I'm sure they can remove them for a port but what would they use. Like the cut scene with Screaming Mantis or Psycho Mantis when he talks about PS1 and the PS1 memory card. I guess if they made a port or not for the xbox 360, Mantis would say oh where's your xbox hard drive. Or what about also that codec message with Snake and Otacon about blu ray. Would they talk about downloadable content instead? I don't no man. I think a 360 of MGS4 would be a little weird. I remember playing MGS2 for xbox a while back and the control's where just off. It felt so much better on PS2 but that's just my opinion. Well just have to wait and see whether it happens or not.

If by handle they mean that the DVD problem doesn't matter. Not everyone having a harddrive for the install doesn't matter and the fact that the game will most likely be gimped in some way then sure the Xbox 360 can handle the game.
